Purplefowlers real tobacco leaf steeping adventures

do you boil it to a reduction after ?

to concentrate it for use as a concentrate ?
tbh I've been wondering that myself and can't find a straight answer. Concentrated would be more usable but I don't know if it would effect the vg.

The boil point of VG / PG is around 290 degs C :)

I guess I won't be boiling it then :D I wonder if you could add dionised water to the steep and boil that off though? I should imagine the water would speed up the steep and help pull the flavour out? Might have to look into that!

Maybe put it on the radiator?

It's on top of my boiler in the airing cupboard :D but as I'm walking I've had a thought which seems far to logical to be true so I thought I'd run it by you guys :). A lot of us DIYers use vg with 10% water so it's not too thick so how about making a tea and cooking it down to a concentrated tea and adding it instead of water? I've no idea what the shelf life would be but then I don't know the shelf life of a vg infusion! What do you reckon?

I use non aqueous VG and then add about 10% deionized water which is hot over the steeping bag. That's not the issue, the issue might be what you boil off or what evaporates off with the water. Some tobacco steeps are incredibly weak in flavour and also need to steep after the initial infusing steep - my Flue Cured Tobacco tasted hay/straw like when fresh - it mellowed out in steeping but is still on the weak side flavour wize, but deffo has that complex tobacco effect when vaped.

ok time for another update. It was doing pretty much nothing and I think it was that vg was just too think to work with the teabag-nothing was going in and nothing was coming out so I added a little bit of boiled water and it seems to be coming along really well. As you can see it has got a lot more colour and there is much more flavour on the dippy finger test. I'm feeling a lot more positive now. I reckon another couple of days and we should be ready to rock :D

Because VG is a humeticant I pour very warm water (de ionized, boiled and then cooled) over the bag full of tobacco and then add the VG. The VG will act like a sponge and draw the water into itself, drawing some of the tobacco flavour with it and starting the process of stuff leaching out the leaves. I found this more effective than making the VG aqueous before adding it. And yup VG on its own is very gloopy and keeping the steep somewhere warm or warming it up gently helps things along :) So when are you having your first tastette?

I've finally had a taste test and....drum roll please.......bleurgh!!!! It's not the strongest flavour but it's very dark and "dirty". I think it could be the choice of leaf but I thought if I was going to do it then I'd do it properly. I'm going to see what it's like with some seedmans and some em but so far it's not for me. I'm still letting it steep to see if it matures but I'm thinking this isn't for me and maybe I should just buy a good tobacco concentrate, lol!

Just gone for another try and I have to say I think it might have reached a turning point. It's actually pretty strong in flavour and the throathit kicks like a mule. It is the closest thing I've vaped to a cigarette, very tobaccoy. I almost feel like I'm cheating as it is that tobaccoy! I'm going to try it with some seedmans flue cured from leisureliquids.
