Higher rates of e-cigarette and marijuana use in U.S. states did not result in more e-cigarette or vaping-related lung injuries (known as EVALI), a new study from the Yale School of Public Health finds.

Published in the journal Addiction, the study estimates the relationship between states' total reported EVALI cases per capita as of January 2020, and pre-outbreak rates of adult vaping and marijuana use. Results show that higher rates of vaping and marijuana use are associated with fewer EVALI cases per capita.

"If e-cigarette or marijuana use per se drove this outbreak, areas with more engagement in those behaviors should show a higher EVALI prevalence," said Assistant Professor Abigail Friedman, the study's author. "This study finds the opposite result. Alongside geographic clusters of high EVALI prevalence states, these findings are more consistent with locally available e-liquids or additives driving the EVALI outbreak than a widely used, nationally-available product."

That last part is saying that locally available ejuice is consistent with higher rates of evali , or the opposite?

This study will be buried within a cpl weeks.

We have known for a long time that the problem was ilegal thc pods cut with vitamin E oil and the oil was the problem. This article does not mention that.

what it is saying is that there is no national correlation between vaping or marijuana use and the lung condition that was killing people. Ie. there was not more injury in states with higher numbers of vapers or weed users. Instead the injury was more localised in smaller areas that were not necessarily areas with lots of vapers or weed users.

Yeah, but if its promoting a single nationally available juice...which is now considered a drug by the fda, which can therefore be patented and manufactured by 1 or 2 pharmaceutical companies, cost an exorbitant amount of money, only be available in very low strengths (4mg or under), only available in 3 flavors (mint, cherry, or citrus) then that would be really awesome for a government friendly company like nicorette, whose current products are ineffective, and who can now make ejuice ineffective too (so tobacco companies r happy)...

Then this study is going to be the basis for new legislation in the states now that they have managed to curtail nearly all other ejuice manufacturing.

big pharma wins
Big tobacco wins
Government wins
Everyone else loses...
Game, set, match...

Edit: thats a university study which means someone provided grant money for it to be done. I wanna know who.

once bug pharma and the government can profit off it, and big tobacco doesnt feel threatened by it, then yes, of course vaping all of a sudden becomes safe again like it has been all along before 2018

What I take away from the study is that in states where more people vape and more people use weed then less people die from vaping illegal thc products that have been cut with dangerous shit,
