Hi Apes,

There are a lot of posts on this topic, but what I need to know is what is the most appropriate wire to use?

I currently use 26/32 ss Clapton wire, at around 0.3 - 0.4 ohms and it's OK, but would like to try using flat wire and see if this improves the taste from my juice.

Any suggestions or help would be great, cheers guys.

I don't really use it but just thought I'd mention that ribbon and flat wire are different things. Ribbon wire is wire that has been manufactured in a flat shape whereas flat wire usually refers to round wire that has been pressed flat.

Flattened wire is damned finest kind kit. Thanks to @itsher for recommending the stuff to me.
I use mechs so flattened Nichrome is fantastic, more surface area ergo more flavour and far cooler looking coils. flattened is simply standard round wire put thro a press to well, flatten it out a bit.

Ribbon is purpose made wire that is like a ribbon, I've tried it a few times, mostly using narrow ribbon to make armored Clapton coils. some folks can get several lengths of ribbon stacked together and wrapped like a clapton to make a right fancy coil. Apparently it can be tasty. Apparently some folks have the patience to wrap several lengths of ribbon wire the 'gether!!
See the below for what you can do if you are Gandalf or very patient! Gary Lee made that, the 'Winslet

Coil'.

Find if you use it as the wrap of a fused Clapton opposed to a round wire it works nice with fruiter flavours. Nice quick and easy to build or you could layer/stack it, put frames (or not) and have a staple coil - I've started using it a fair bit tbh.
