What's new

Shinyitus has got me wanting

Using the Wotofo PNP coils that you make, the packaging states coils to be used between 37 and 43 watts. In the Argus it's chooses best wattage for you and selects 50 and won't go further than 60. Do I stick to packaging or trust the chip that is supposed to protect the coils in the Argus?

im using one of the wotofo pnp coils myself know & have been using them for quite awhile, if you go over the recommended wattage get ready for the burnt taste, im using mine in the vaporesso target PM80 se at 40 watts.

and out of all those mesh strips theres only the extreme for high wattage 45/55 & i would not push these over 50 watts..

Thank you. I had at 38 so I'll go to 40 and leave it there. Seems a waste of all that power to stay at 40. Can't wait to start building properly.

Seen as you are capable of building a PNP coil I would have a look for something like either the wotofo profile M or profile unity both really easy to build & use a mesh strip you bend & the screw into place I use mine around the 60watt mark & the wife uses the the profile M about 50 watts only down side to these is they guzzle juice like a V8 [emoji6]

I've been looking at them. I will stick with what I have at the moment though. Got to get myself another job before shinyitus hits again lol.

On the argus When First switching the mod on it is in smart mode (yellow/orange display with S next to the wattage) and adjusts power acording to wich pnp coil you are using and limits the wattage to the maximum recomended wattage for the coil,

3 clicks of the fire button switches to RBA mode (blue display with R next to the wattage) where you can adjust the wattage upto the full 160w. I reccomend using this mode.

3 more clicks for temp control mode (green display), long press of fire button to select wire type.
Then 3 more clicks goes back to smart mode.

I know it's annoying when I get myself in by accident and have to go through it all again to get back to smart mode. Thank you though

Smart modes in mods choose the suggested wattage for THEIR range of coils. All it does is check the resistance and limit the wattage - in this case for the Voopoo range of coils. The mod has no idea what the coil is, it only reads the resistance so it is only 'Smart' when you use the range of coils and tank that were included in the full kit version of that particular mod - for everything else it is really thick and can't be trusted.

If you use any other tank or coils from another manufacturer then you would be better off using RBA mode and start at the lowest suggested wattage, gradually increasing power if you need to, but not going above the recommended max rating for that coil.

Also this is not a dig, but said chips are only as smart as the user, and this goes with all electronics ;)
