What's new

Shinyitus has got me wanting

Not all pnp coils are like that, some have the wick holes fully exposed. Voopoo have poor quality control in pretty much all their products, this extends to the coils. The Wotofo prebuilt and smrt are much better.
Thank you

It's not long out iirc, so the fact they're punting it off cheap already should speak volumes. Not saying it's shit (haven't tried it tbh). There's maybe a review on here somewhere.
I'll have a look. No doubt it'll be out of stock by the time I'm ready lol

The issue with the Dead Rabbit R is that even though it is an RTA, you are buying in to Hellvape’s proprietary coils system, so it’s not an open system where you can buy your own mesh strips and cotton. I considered the Dead Rabbit R, ended up going with the Kylin M Pro instead. Both came out at the same time, the Kylin seems to be holding price, probably because it’s a better tank.

I think you can get 10 strips/cotton for about £4.50, so 45p per coil.

For £16 I bought a pack of Labo Puff and 2 Mesh spools, which makes about 180 builds, That’s 9p per coil, so 1/5th the cost.

That’s why I avoided the Dead Rabbit R.

That sounds more economical. What's the tank like? Thank you

Mesh can be tricky to build, some avoid it because of that, so be aware that you have to take care (a dry hit on a mesh RTA is not something to mess with). Once you get the hang of it, there's not much to compare flavour wise. It will drink juice like there's no tomorrow. You might be better off going the RTA wire coil route, much easier to start off, and similar cost for coils. Don't want to deter you, just fair warning :)

I'll stick to what I've got for now then. Thank you

The Dead Rabbit R has a vocal following on some other forums I frequent. It's not a bad tank whatsoever but has suffered due to an identity crisis, which is partly Hellvape's fault. They have marketed it poorly and even had it listed on their site under sub ohm tanks.

I don't believe the tank was ever meant for seasoned hobbyist vapers, it was meant for sub ohm tank users who want to get into rebuildables. Some sub ohm tanks have massive coils which in turn means damn expensive coils, so you can save 75% or so without sacrificing flavour or clouds.

As for the mesh/cotton, there is already plenty of competition in this space for rebuildable mesh tanks. Now that the Wotofo smrt system has been a runaway success, expect more companies to start offering similar mesh strips with the leads already soldered on, thus leading to more variety and lowering expenses even further.

To be fair, when I first saw the Dead Rabbit R pre-release reviews/blurb I was using prebuilt mesh coils at £2 a pop, and it looked brilliant. But I also came across POTV, which led me down the rabbit hole (pun intended :) ) and I ended up going full blown RTA with the Kylin M Pro.

£2.00 per coil isn't too bad, the mesh pro 2 coils are huge and you only get 3 in a pack. Works out to £3.50-£4.00 per coil delivered in the UK.

Just wondering, I love my TFV18 but I find the reason I wanted it now the reason I hate it. It's too bloody big. Could I get a straight or smaller bubble glass to make it less of a beast?
