smoker's reactions to vaping?

Hi, not sure if this has been discussed anywhere else yet, but what kind of reaction have you had from smokers when seeing you vape? I was at a party lasty night and there were some people smoking outside and I used my e-cig in the lobby/entrance as it was allowed and was very happy to not have to stand outside in the cold. One reaction I got was "that's a cop-out!" . Well of course I guess he was just jealous, but it would be interesting to find out if any of you had positive or negative experiences. Most non-smokers I have met seem to be happy for me to vape away if it helps keep me away from the stinkies! Smokers seem to either not understand it all yet, or think we are somehow cheating.

I've only had one experience where a smoker reacted to me vaping. She thought she was bothering me, and kept waving away the smoke as we talked. I assured her I didn't mind - she said she assumed I'd be like others she's met who vaped: vehemently militant ex-smokers.

I got on a bus yesterday, sat upstairs and vaped away - got a lot of looks, probably a lot of jealous smokers.

My uncle was the bus driver so I knew I would't get thrown off. Probably wouldn't be so blatent about it normally.

Well some people might hate smoking after they turn to vaping, just like some people will if they just quit. I myself don't like smoking but it doesn't bother me if others smoke around me. OH is still a smoker, so I have to live with it. After all, I remember how difficult I found it to quit until I found e-cigs. Maybe that's why I get funny looks or negative reactions from some smokers.

I haven't experienced too many issues with smokers but have heard a variety of responses varying from being suspicious of why these things are appearing, seeing them as a threat to their own habit, being jealous that they are used where they themselves cannot smoke, mockery (plastic fags/looks like a light sabre/sonic screwdriver/dildo). Some will quote from the Daily Mail suggesting they are dangerous, they blow up, they kill dogs etcetc

All based on ignorance which is why we need to keep doing what we do and if asked, explain what they are, how they work and remember the fact we were smokers too.

I have to say though, I regularly vape in my local pub. Smokers have to go outside in the street as it has no outside smoking area. I have not yet received any unpleasant reactions. Questions yes.

Like most other vapers i arrived to vaping straight from smoking & i am no different to them so far a nicotine addiction goes. As far as i'm concerned we are all alike, some like brown sugar, some like white. Most of my friends either smoke or their partners do.

I don't really hang out where there are loads of people, in public, & when i have to go up town i normally leave my vape at home & so nobody sees me vaping anyway. If i did take it & wanted a toot in the street, i would do it in the same way as i smoked which was considerate to others. I'm not in the habit of making a statement about it because why should anyone else give a fuck what i'm doing any more than i do about them ? If anyone asks me, i'll explain it to them.

In the end the only difference between us & smokers is that we have found an alternative. Are we right or wrong ? Can't answer that.

I seem to get reactions based on the person: positive from positive people, and guess what from negative people lol Good natured smokers are always interested in my vaping exploits and are happy that I've made the switch.

I get mostly curiosity. Some think I should stop pretending and either smoke or stop, but most are interested and want to try. People are fairly open minded considering it's not a big thing round here. My other half was saying just the other day how he sees loads of people oop north vaping away in the streets but he rarely sees it round here.
