and you put your drip tip over the atty it sits inside

I think I may be being a little thick, as I still don't see where you'd stick a drip tip?

Yep that's a fantastic little atty. You need a 306 drip tip, it will encase on top of it. 510 drip tips won't fit on 306 atomisers.
