Hey Apes, just received a much anticipated Squape R clone from FT and just tried my first build. Aaaaaargh I'm having a mare trying to trap the wire on the posts!! After 30 mins of swearing and pulling my hair out I just about loosely secured it but the ohms are jumping around like jumping Jack frost!

Now I have very good coil building skills and was wondering if anyone has come across this issue or have a fix?

Cheers ears :-)

There are mate but they are small tiny ones. Whilst the ones on the deck are long ones that secure it the base.

Make sure that the Posts that the terminal screws go into are screwed down tight., also, make sure that the Base of choice is down hard into the Base, you should hear an audible click. IF all that is done, the posts "should" just project above the deck of choice. This cures shorts.

It is worth doing a complete strip down of the base to double check everything, so remove screws, remove Deck, unscrew 510 Connector and then pull the inner base section that the posts screw into clear. Clean everything, reassemble, nipping the Posts tight whilst you are at it and then rebuild and you should be absolutely fine from there on in.

I don't think it's shorting because of the base. It's just that when I tighten down the posts the wire just pops out like the head ain't wide enough.

I'm using thick gauge wire (.34?) Which I thought was the problem but tried .25 and its the same issue.

This was what was making me raise my eyebrows. It sounded as though the Terminal Screws had been tightened down into the posts too much, meaning that when you unscrew them, the whole Post comes out? If that is what is happening, there's your problem, the Posts should stay put and the `terminal screws should come out of them.

If I have misunderstood, then apologies. I am using .28 or .25 and have not had one issue.

Doh! That might be the issue. Let me check it and I'll report back.

Unscrew them, then grip the Posts with pliers, forceps etc and unscrew the Terminal Screws. Now strip the base down as I described, check everything. Screw the longer of the two `posts into the base. Slip the inner base over that and press down firmly. Put the 510 Pin back in and screw that up quite tight, now tighten the remaining Post onto the inner base, tighten with Pliers and then reassemble, then adjust the 510 to suit.;)

This is why I love this forum!! Rob you my mate are a superstar! :woot:

Gripped the post with pliers and unscrewed the screw with brute force. I did slightly damage the post so the decks a tight fit but it's fixed! Man I love you guys! :D
