What's new

stay alert is it the new stay at home

My take on that is....
A shoe shop is not an essential shop so will not be allowed to open till June at the earliest so the worker stops at home by which time the public transport issue may be changed.

I agree but should the likes of asda tesco still be allowed to sell shoes clothes etc ?

Hmm, that's a tricky one. They're already open so why not. It would be like not letting any supermarket sell alcohol, tobacco, sweets, chocolate, crisps etc etc, because none of those are essential products are they.
I remember years ago ( not sure if they still do it) that wh Smith used to open early but you could only buy newspapers and bits. The rest of the shop was closed off until 9.00 Weird !

So whats to stop a shoe shop start selling tins of beans so they can sell shoes.

That's the logical explanation.
But the Pm specifically said if you can't work from home, you go to work tomorrow.
But then later said we may allow shops to reopen 1st June.
It all contradicts itself.
Schools are not open tomorrow so how can a non essential worker go to work tomorrow when their kids can't go to school
It's all nonsense to me.

Yeah, I get what you are saying. The news said the finer points will be made tomorrow in parliament. He said people in construction and manufacturing etc should go back if possible. Shops and schools and the like are to be phased in later if all goes well. The government type imo are never very good at explaining things in short statements and you have to use common sense and read between the lines really. If kids can't go to school and both parents are at home at the moment then one of them will have to go back to work if possible. It all depends on the kind of work they do. The PM'S broadcast was really a broad statement imo. That's how I understood it anyway. People can't stay at home forever

As you say, be interested to see the details tomorrow.
