Steam Engine VG/PG Ratios

That’s not the case. 1.2% of the final liquid, in this case, is nic. Pure nic. Therefore, the total amount of vg and pg combined is 98.8%.

Yes, 98.8% of the final mix is PG & VG (some of which is the nic carrier!). That still doesn't change the fact that in a 50/50 100ml mix, the PG content is 50ml.

I think I’ve kind of fixed the ones I’ve messed up.

This probably won’t make any sense at all but this is what I have done

I incorrectly made 2 bottles of base liquid

1 bottle of base to add 20% PG flavourings (flavours weren’t added, although were part of the calculation, so I need to add 20% PG/flavourings before using)

1 bottle of base to add 5% PG flavourings

I was about to do an unflavoured batch to use if I needed to dilute flavours, but then I realised whoah this doesn’t look right. So rather than mix it I’ve added a further 10ml mix at 16 VG/84 PG into the base liquids to bring it more in line with the 50/50 I wanted.

I did mix up a few small bottles with flavours but they can just stay as they are. The nic level is right so it’s no big deal really.

You've completely lost me there. I can't help but think you've made it far more complicated for yourself than it needs to be :24:

That’s not incorrect, that’s how much nic, pg and vg would be in a batch of 12mg. 1.2%, 49.4% and 49.4% respectively.

My wrong batches weren’t 12mg they were 120mg (according to the strengths I put in).

... I have no idea what we are actually talking about now :S

Lol, in my head I was making it simple

This is the base I mixed up (but didn’t add the flavourings - so it’s 20 ml short)

When I want to mix a small bottle, I use this calculation to tell me how much flavourings/base to add (the PG is the base nicotine)

I just thought it’s easier to do it that way rather than add nic/vg/pg and flavourings into small bottles.

Edit: That’s the base mix I SHOULD have mixed up

Have you got nic in PG and some in VG? Your earlier calculations have your nic carrier as VG. I'm now thoroughly bewildered. Flavours are already diluted in PG, how does diluting them further help? I don't mean to come across as critical, it's just that you've genuinely got me baffled :17:

I’m not diluting them, they are meant to be in the initial base mixture (but I purposely missed them out). When I mix it in the smaller bottles I’m adding them (and if my base mix was done correctly) it would be a 50/50 mix

The bottom calculation the PG is telling me how much of my base to put in (not put more PG in)

It does change it. It’s actually a 49.4/49.4/1.2 mix.

This is without a doubt the most confusing thread I have ever read.

.... all I can say is thank fuck I didn't start mixing using that calculator. :D

Is your issue because you are mixing by volume and not weight?

it's so much easier with a little scale, especially when mixing test amounts.

.... and it's far easier when everything is separate and calculated separately imo.
