Hi all. Do any of you know how to repair an Itaste SVD to stop the misfire and random shutdown issues?

I hope you can help.
Cheers.

I've found this for you on another forum. I'm sure that the chap who originally posted it (username: 'zg444') won't mind as it's helping a fellow svd owner.
If one of the mods can confirm it's ok to post a link to another e-cigarette-forum ;) then I'll post a link to the whole thread. I'll pm the link to you.

"Having my new VTR in hand, I thought I would look around to see if anyone else had the same issues with my beloved SVD, seems I was not alone. I've had mine about 4 months now, and really no complaints about her. She's solid, rugged, and works very well. However about a month into our relationship the fire button lost it's springy snap, not sure if this just happened, or maybe when she got a little top heavy and fell over. Regardless she still worked, but was a little funny with how you had to turn her off, and on. Sometimes she would turn off right in the middle of a hit, and you'd have to stop and turn her back on.

Now that I've finally gotten her replacement, I figured it was about time to see what I could do about fixing her without having to worry about being without my APV.. So I tore into her..

Those rings around the buttons seem only to be press fitted in, so with some tape on a sturdy set of pliers, I went at her. The fire button ring came off easier than I thought it would, and I'm now looking deep inside her.. Yea.. Should have taken pics...

So the problem with mine was that the spring inside the micro button either broke, or came loose, the plastic plunger just sort of flopped around inside the switch housing..

If you attempt this fix, you'll see more what I'm talking about when you see the underside of the fire button. The punger sits in the hole in the middle of the button, and has a nice thick wall on it, so I found a spring, really converted a ball point pen spring with a little cutting, and bending, and fit it around the outside of the button bottom. As it happens the switch also has a nice deck around the plunger as well, so it seemed to match up quite nicely. Match it all back up and get the press fit ring back on, and while it still does not have it's click.. It definitely does have some spring back in it, which should help with the random turn off's and wonky button presses.

Hope this gives hope to SVD lovers out there.. I'm tempted to buy her sister from FT.. :P

Having read through the entire thread now, it looks like some people are getting the 'button issue' while others have used and abused their SVDs for ages without any issues. To me it sounds like there may have been a batch of dodgy springs / buttons / micro switches....
Possibly an easy fix if it's just a case of re-seating and securing the spring in the button assembly. I suspect the part of the button that pushes the micro switch isn't hitting it in exactly the right place.
Obviously attempting a fix will void your guarantee...

Thanks for your help Robski. I can't seem to be able to remove the surround from the button housing. I don't want to scratch the SVD either.

Ah so it isn't just me, i have had my svd, for a little over a week now, noticed on a couple of occasions, it has just turned itself off, thought it was the battery at first, but its done it twice now on a fully charged battery, got a genuine sealed one from eBay, think i might just email the seller then, didn't realize there was an issue with them.

It appears to be hit and miss. Some people have no problems at all and then there's us...... My one is limping along now, but I have to press the button square on and with a fair amount of pressure on it too. I'm looking for something else, but don't know what. I don't want another SVD or a Vamo and I have an Itaste MVP. Good luck with your return!
