Can it be repaired?

Hi Guys, ok I’m a pretty new vaper , started with an Aspire K3 and now using an Aspire Mixx sbs mod with Nautilus 3 24 mm tank.
I’ve heard about various mods and seen stacks of the things on You Tube.
I’m not into sub ohm, I’m just a ex smoker really.
It seems as though most mods and vape kit in general is a bit like everything else, when it no longer works, it’s in the bin.
So are there any mods that are truly fully repairable? Are there repair specialists out there?
If there are repairable mods, who makes them and are spares normally available?
I’m an engineer by trade and I just hate our chuck away society.
Apologies if you guys have answered these questions more times than you can remember.

You might find this interesting. Parts seem readily available. Other than that I would say maybe a mech mod. Less to go wrong and easily fixed. No idea what's good in the mech mod world now though.

Cheers, looks interesting. I’ve seen some stuff about mech mods and they do seem very simple devices. I think my main concern with mech mods might be safety. It appears that some people get worried about the lack of safety features on them.

As long as you're following correct safety advice and not building crazy ohm coils you should be alright. Battery safety is also important of course. I'm sure there are some mech users on here who can chip in with advice. Hope you find what you are looking for.

Thank you. Yeah I guess sooner or later someone with mech mod experience in bundles will be along.
I like the simplistic idea of mech mods I must admit.
The mod I currently use is actually rather basic compared to many that I’ve seen, but it seems to be well built and it does all I need it to do.
I’ve no idea if Aspire offer any kind of repair or spares back up though.

Mods with Evolv (DNA) boards and screens can be repaired and spares are available.

Other than that I'm not sure these days. Most things are made to be as cheap as possible and to be thrown away unfortunately. The last few years it's been a race to make the cheapest disposable junk possible.

I wouldn't recommend a mechanical mod especially with a tank like you are using, you really need power adjustment. Dangers aside, other than a few diehards who will continue using them for ever, I don't think most people find them practical any more.

Unless you`re conversant with ohms law and battery safety I would stay away from mechs, I would think that any of the external battery mods can be tinkered with but you have to think of the market that most mods were made for, stack em high and sell em cheap, without any regard for repairs or retro fit.

Yeah, unfortunately we live in a mass production, but it cheap , chuck it away world. Yes there is a lot of superb engineering involved in a lot of stuff, but repairing stuff seems to be fading out. Very sad really.

It’s ok, as an engineer I’m fairly ok with Ohms law. Which is why I’m a little concerned about potential safety issues with mech mods. Batteries are things we all take for granted, but familiarity breeds contempt of course.
Yeah almost anything is dangerous under the right circumstances and in the wrong hands.
As you say, stack em high and sell em cheap. It’s the way of the world now.😂

Honestly, the Aspire Mixx you are using is a pretty well made mod. It's not trash.

Providing you don't drop it, or your tank leaks and you fry the electronics. It should last many years. I haven't bought a mod for ages. I'm using an eleaf right now that's probably 5 years old. I'm sure it will end up binned at some point, but it's not like I'm chucking mods away every six months. I've still got working mods I bought in my first year of vaping.
