What's new

The joys of mixing never ceases to amaze me!

If that's true then we are all fooked.

Vanillin IS vanilla. As far as I know there isn't a single vanilla flavour that does not include vanillin. Those white crystals you see on the outside of a natural vanilla pod, that is vanillin.

It is my understanding that almost all commercial Vanillin has been found to contain Diacetyl and as a result is specifically not a good idea to put in any eliquid. Perhaps infusing pods directly is a different ball game than using the extracts though?

In which case nearly all e-liquids commercially available contain diacetyl. Vanillin is one of the most widely used flavouring compounds there is.

RY4 - vanillin. Every vanilla custard - vanillin. A lot of fruit flavours - vanillin.

It's actually more likely that natural flavour extracts will turn out to be the most harmful as far as vaping goes. Synthetic flavours are much less complicated than their natural counterparts (there are 200 odd chemical compounds in a vanilla pod for example) so it's much easier to remove an ingredient from a flavouring than it is to remove a compound from a natural source.
It's entirely possible that one of those 200+ compounds in natural vanilla are as harmful as the synthetic stuff, or more harmful, or neither is harmful at all.

We should start to get a much clearer picture of the long term health impacts (if any) in about another 5 years.
