TNT parcel company sets a good example in Rotherham

Too often we hear that companies have strict no smoking policies with vaping attached by default. Smoking shelters that vapers have to go to also and blanket bans anywhere smoking is banned.

TNT Rotherham are doing things differently.

They have set up a seperate vaping shelter away from the smoking shelter because they understand that vapers don't want to be breathing the smoke they are getting aay from. On it's own that's a step in the right direction but they have gone one further.

They can vape in the vans, smoking is banned and carries a harsh penalty but they understand vaping hasn't got the same issues and it's fine. They are allowed to vape in the building so despite having a vaping shelter outside for if people want to use it they haven't got the full restriction of use it only there.

Good bit of positive news from a company looking to vaping as a good step away from their drivers smoking

This seems to just be Rotherham depot at the moment - not sure on the whole company as yet.

None of the gaffers smoke or vape, I think they just see it all as a positive step away from loads of smokers and reduced productivity

Wasnt aware of being allowed to vape in the vans too. Surprised at that! As long as their not chucking clouds like something resembling a scene from Cheech & Chong i suppose lol

That's great news though isn't it? I could see the 'increased productivity' thing being a major positive for a lot of workplaces, especially smaller ones with skeleton staff.

Increased productivity is my main issue. At the moment I sit in my own office at my Mac and vape away all day, except when a client that doesn't know me comes in then I stop.

I look up and all I see is a constant stream of people from accounts heading out the back for a fag. How much time is being wasted? and of course with the advent of smart phones and FB it's now not good enough just to smoke, they've got to have a coffee and update their FB check emails etc!!

Well sadly the latest development at my depot goes in the face of the OP.
Its banned. No more vaping in TNT folks!

What i heard was* ...

One of the top brass walked into a canteen at a depot down south and ''the room was just one big cloud'' he said. So thats it, action has been taken in depots nationwide to end it.


* Thats how the story goes anyway, you know how people like a good Chinese whisper and like to spice the story up before passing it on.
I can tell you thats the story i heard and ive not spiced it up any. Dont like Chinese whispers me lol
