TPD Implemented in Denmark

Well it's just a disgrace. Ignorance, short sightedness & corruption of the worst kind.

What is their smoking law like ? I mean, do they smoke there or are they a snus nation ?

Yes smoking is allowed but only outside, not inside a pub and so on. They have snus as well how they are dealing with that i am not sure as I never been interested in that.

Only thing i remember (before i left the country) was when working in a small local retail store, that they kept the snus in the fridge along side the milk, don't think that's allowed anymore but could tell you for sure.

The fact they allow people to smoke legally but will ban ecigs makes it worse.

My take on it. They are going to do what we fear will happen here.

1. Ban it completely based on the most convenient law that will stand up.
2. reclasify it under a new act.
3. Legalise it again.
4. Sell it back to the public with hefty tax added & control it.

Fuck you public, fuck you who developed it, fuck you who care, it's ours & you have to buy it our way....Fuck you & give us your money !

Do you really think it has anything other than money to do with it?

Im sure some small benefactor that's squeaky clean, has provided the government a fee for the party, and ofc it could never be traced back to a tobacco company.

There is no other reason, medical professionals globally have stated the benefits, and also dis proven any nonsense made up by the tobacco's scientists .. that are ofc independent.

They still have "brown" bars where you can smoke indoors with a beer -these are small < 40sqm and are called brown bars or bodegas. You can spot them by a cigarette on a white background surrounded by a green circle. Don't know how long it will last but it was still the case when I was in Copenhagen in December

Bugger.

Iirc, if this TPD gets adopted by a certain number of countries (3 or 4 if memory serves), then it automatically comes into effect EU wide.

I hope that I've gotten muddled with this, but I seem to remember that was one of the big concerns.. if it automatically goes EU wide then the government can just say there's nothing they can do about it and we're fecked.

steffijade bugger indeed, so what can or should we be doing with regards this? Even if it went eu wide all countries can veto/opt out still. .. how do we make sure that it doesn't come into force here?

If it goes EU wide, then it becomes EU law if I've understood it correctly, giving the UK government a 'get out of jail free' card. I'm not sure there'll be an opt out if it gets adopted by a few more countries.

I should stress here that this is only something I seem to remember reading, so don't take it for gospel. I could well be talking out me arse, indeed, I hope I am.
