UK customs opening all parcels from USA and China

Sorry, am escalating something i should have stayed out of in the first place. I will go back and delete my posts solely as i think its a bollox thread that will only serve to widen or create a gap between end users and businesses and i wont be any help at all to what you started the post for.

I have paid a lot of customs charges over the years, as have many others. Sometimes something might slip through. Its not customs thats the problem in your argument, its the post office standing charge. The items you pay for with correct customs paid etc etc likely dont get twatted with ten pounds a time for something where the customs cost was actually a pound or two. The post office charges take the piss. I have no doubt the whole, we have to deliver it to customs, and collect it and there is the cost of repackaging and collecting the money and lord knows whatever other bs they can add to justify it comes into play, but the fact stands, minor customs charge, ridiculous rm charge equals end users getting fucked.

i am not condoning ripping off her majestys customs, perish the thought, but the whole stop everything and make em pay mentality is to my mind insulting. Lets do away with customs and instead make every parcel coming from other than the uk a standing delivery charge addition of fifty quid, that seems fair. THen everyone pays.

seriously, what does the stop everything do for the end user?

or are you talking about a uk business owner who loses out. Those same sellers who buy in cheap and sell way beyond the realms of a reasonable profit? I am not talking about uk sellers of mods and the like who add a tenner to the price, thats kind of fair for a business thats done the hard work of getting it here. But some just flat take the piss.

I think theyre doing it as a show/warning.
its been a pain i only sell e-liquids so the 200% + mark up on ecig kit etc dont affect me the fact that suppliers will send a $2000 parcel of juice but label it as "AROMATHERAPY or SAMPLES" is wrong.
i know someone who imported $3000 of kit from China when package arrived it was costed $170
thats why theres no kit being made in the UK.

I'm waiting on parcels from China and the States and I have to admit, your crowing about potential delays and charges to my deliveries does little to encourage me to use your business in the future.

That's probably just me though.

you kinda answered your own question as to why people go abroad for liquid and e-cig stuff why should we have to pay a 200% mark up when we can go elsewere at a cheaper price

I'm also waiting on parcels from China and your crowing about potential delays and charges to my deliveries sounds more like the green eyed monster gloating to me.....

Nope...Me too

you've all missed my point,
i was posting that i found out today that customs are stopping/checking parcels from U.S and China due to vat/duty not being correctly stated. this would have zero effect on people buying small things from China its to catch people avoiding large vat/duty bills.

as a small business who pays all correct taxes on my juice imports adding nearly 40% to my costs, sell a premium product at a very fair price, how am i sposed to compete against sellers who avoid these taxes.

i'm not havin a dig at anyone or any vendor but we need an even playing field and let customer service and price be our aim, not screwing as much profit out of customers.

anyway i have requested my account here be shut. and i apologise if anyone was offended by my post.

the 3k of kit from china is probably only really 'worth' 170 :lol1:

Well if you wasn't aiming this post at anyone then this is a completely pointless thread!?

You raised the point of telling us that you pay tax and others don't so you can't compete?

What did you want, sympathy?

Also your first post specifically states that you pay tax, so should everyone else.

As a relatively unknown vendor trying to drum up business, this thread has made me not want to buy from you so maybe you need to work on your marketing!
