UK customs opening all parcels from USA and China

As the majority of folk you are taking to will not be putting in 3k worth of orders surely the point is wasted.

At most a hundred or so pounds will be dropped to say fasttech by most of us and while it would be great to purchase from UK vendors but when we know most buy from these places yet charge in some cases 10 x more it makes people think twice.

I'm not saying this to open an economic argumentative can of worms, just pointing out the facts as we know it and not just the hearsay and Chinese whispers

you've all missed my point,
i was posting that i found out today that customs are stopping/checking parcels from U.S and China due to vat/duty not being correctly stated. this would have zero effect on people buying small things from China its to catch people avoiding large vat/duty bills.

as a small business who pays all correct taxes on my juice imports adding nearly 40% to my costs, sell a premium product at a very fair price, how am i sposed to compete against sellers who avoid these taxes.

i'm not havin a dig at anyone or any vendor but we need an even playing field and let customer service and price be our aim, not screwing as much profit out of customers.

anyway i have requested my account here be shut. and i apologise if anyone was offended by my post.

With respect, customs probably don't have the manpower available to check every parcel sent from the US. I would suspect that it's virtually impossible for them to check each and every parcel coming from China, given the volume.

If you want to compete on level terms then I suppose you'd have to use 'dodgy' practices and take the risk of having your goods confiscated/being charged with tax evasion/fraud or whatever 'they' decide is fitting, in the same way that you perceive others are doing.

If that doesn't float your boat, you could always try reporting those who you suspect of 'dodgy' practice to try and get a level playing field but I'd assume that approach isn't without risks either. If you were to wrongly accuse someone they might resort to legal action for sullying their name, unless you were to make an anonymous report.

I understand your frustration that you're playing by the rules and you perceive that others might not be and gaining by doing so, but at the end of the day, if you're doing everything right then at least you won't have the concerns about prosecution/confiscation of goods that those folk who don't do everything correctly must have nagging at them.

Besides, retail price isn't the be all and end all... a lot of folk are prepared to pay a bit more for good quality and good service. If you make those your priorities and gain a loyal customer base because of them, it can carry you a long way.

Good luck.

I have only ever had one wholesale package arrive and not be charged the import duty I expected, I compete on service and in other areas. My markup on ecig kit (nor anyone else I know of, unless you are counting market stall bottom of the pile ego kits in which case try looking for higher quality kits with a different selling point) certainly isn't 200x either.

There will always be vendors able to sell cheaper than you, for instance there is no dice in me getting isticks in stock for the markup I could put on them after all the import costs compared to those I know are ordering in much larger quantities and getting more favourable rates. I certainly see no point in whinging about it, it's business and I have other products that I can sell that keeps my business going that others do not have access to.

anyway i have requested my account here be shut.
Why on earth would you want to do that? Customs ain't charging you to log on are they?

It's becoming a fucking epidemic. "I'm leaving because some people are cunts" or "I'm leaving because of this/that/the other"

Whatsamattawithyouall? :(

OnepoundLiquid are in Stockport, to sell for a quid, so why spend so much importing juice? Make it or sub-contract in the uk. Your's is the real crime here. lol

Do what I do. Order 100 packages from China for a total value of £3000. Just tell the wife you are getting them for other people.

Probably can't afford the 'leccy bill on account of all the money he's losing..
