What's new

UK daily fatalities highest in Europe

We've got 20,000,000 more people than Spain and 6,000,000 more people than Italy.
Not that it makes much difference.

It is starting to highlight that our semi lockdown doesn't appear to be enough cos our death toll is still rising.

we have sadly still not reached the peak yet. and its not helping with all the assholes still going out for a jolly.
500 caravans turned around by police on the way to devon yesterday.

The US recorded 2,035 deaths on the 10th for their daily toll which is still climbing rapidly.

I think our defunded health and social care systems might be a big factor.

It's too early regarding the lock down. Need at least another week maybe more. Which is why it really infuriates me when the media and reporters keep banging on about the exit strategy and lifting restrictions. :12:

A bit worrying (more than really), one of my twin girls lives in Woodstock (NY), I think she's just moved to Virginia, not sure which one though, one supposedly has better (reduced) figures than the other.

I absolutely get the bit about the exit strategy but don't really understand what bit of the waiting is the right thing to to.
Are we waiting to realise we've not stopped enough of the people movement yet and if so who has set and thinks the rate of 3,000 people deaths per day is acceptable on the provision of it multiplying at the rate of doubling every 3-4 days assuming it does actually level out as expected.
I mean if our death toll is still rising which it is shouldn't we be taking further steps to mitigate this now?

We are waiting because we haven't been in lock down long enough to see the real results yet. The time it takes to become infected, incubate the virus, show symptoms, deteriorate, end up in hospital and then die can be as long as a month. Add on reporting lags and you could be looking at 5 weeks. So it can take as much as 5 weeks from starting the lock down to see the true impact.
