Hey all,

hope you're all well,

So i decided to experiment yesterday.....

I took my SRDA from my Squonk mod, removed the captain mini tank from my Capo 100w, placed the SRDA onto to my Capo 100w to start using it as a secondary mod, effectiviely now a dripper.

The performance was a little underwhelming to say the least. The pre-built deck on the SRDA was reading about 0.13-0.15ohms with a 0.13ohm factory installed and about 20A on the LED Capo screen. The Capo 100w was set at 60w with a fully charged 21700 IJOY Battery. Why was the Capo 100 struggling to get a satisfying draw from it? When firing the Voltage reading on the capo 100 screen was starting at 2.4v-2.6v then during vape and at the end of the vape really struggling to get over 3.05v-310v!!!? (reading 2.88v varying upwards slightly during vape) So it was being operated well under the batteries capability and performance!!

Whats going on here? have i the wrong SRDA on the capo 100w? Wrong battery? wrong resistance? I even reduced the wattage to 40w with no change!! whats happening here? Are the two items not suited?

advice always appreciated,

thanks

Lou

The problem is likely to be the battery. The ijoy 21700's aren't particularly good. Infact finding a 21700 that performs as well as they can is a nightmare. I think the 21700 mods have been launched a little too early as that size of cell isn't as mainstream as the 18650 and the full potential hasn't been realized yet.
The wattage ijoy are claiming one cell will provide is a little over optimistic..
Considering the 18650 has been around a while and top companies like Samsung, LG and Sony have pushed the tech to the limits mod manufacturers still can realistically offer 80w max from them with more reliable chips offering 75w I think ijoy are basing there figures on forthcoming battery technology rather than what's currently available.

So possibly try the 18650? I’ll swithc back to the mini captain and see what readings it gives me we would suggest that’s it the low low resistance if the 0.13 prebuilt deck?

I don't think the problem has anything to do with the battery, I think the problem is your choice of mod. If I'm not mistaken the Capo has no boost so unlike nearly every other regulated mod in existence the maximum it can put out is 4.2v and to get the full 4.2v you would most likely have to set it to it's maximum power level; 100w. The Capo has been discussed on here several times and many members (myself included) had one on pre-order but cancelled it once it was established that it is a very basic mod that doesn't have boost capability or bypass mode. It's a mod that is only gonna work well with a very limited type of coil and at a very limited area of resistance. Anything other than a perfect coil choice at the ideal resistance is gonna be a shit vape. The lack of boost is a massive draw back and will undoubtedly cause a very underwhelming vape unless you get a perfect combiniation of coil and resistance. And as you've removed the tank that came with it in favour of another one, the new coil type and resistance combined with an unusually very basic regulated mod have conspired against you to produce a very unsatisfactory and unsatisfying vape.

Wow! Mind blown

So where to go next from here, to the next level? Really fond of squoking with the option of using prebuilt of the shelf RDA decks hence my SRDA IJOY SQUONK purchase (great for a first timer like me) I like its compact carry about size for work which is really practical for me.

So what is it ‘Mech mod’ or unregulated mod would be good for my next step with the option to build of course? Dripping and sqounking as a premise would be good too

What model make would you suggest? Ijoy do unregulated?

Also and advice on the coils to get as per thread?

Thanks for you help btw really appreacite it

I would certainly advise to stay away from mechs until you have some experience behind you using regulated devices and building coils. Besides, you really don't need a mech as a regulated device can provide everything you need. Ijoy just screwed up with the Capo 100. And they know it as they've already released the Capo 216 for pre-order which is the mod the Capo100 should have been! So I would highly recommend the Capo 216. It's regulated. Dual 20700 battery. Can buy pre-coiled decks or rebuildable decks. And has 216w at it's disposal. It's what the Capo100 should have been. Only downside is that it's pre order so have to wait a few weeks to get it in your hands. But Heaven Gifts have them on preorder now without batteries for $59 and with two batteries for $69. And they have just announced their spring sale so using code AHG30 at checkout will give you 30% off.

I suggest you buy a Geekvape gbox squonker or a hcigar vt inbox.
The vt inbox has a dna chip which is very reliable and the gbox takes two cells for longer use.
I have the vt inbox and it is excellent, and I want the gbox.

Sorry gents I got distracted and rather lost track of this thread apologies to the op and thanks bud for picking up the batton. Just found it again but appears you have it well in hand.

Ill +1the gbox. Had a day running it at 75w out of the batteries and doesnt hit like a wet fish. The dead rabbit sat on toP feels very much alive...... (bit frankensteiny that last statement!)

This might help people having issues with the capo 100 with drop in power and inconsistent Voltage and amp delivery, I've stripped down a couple of them and the issue will probably be the contact between the threaded ring that the top cap screws onto and main negative copper plate it connects to, the silver ring is a separate piece of metal and is just bent or crimped against the copper plate that goes to the 510 and negative to the board, unless the cap is done up extremely tight it won't get a good enough contact to get a good load of power. To fix this I've soldered the 2 pieces together, its difficult to solder to the aluminium so flux and some scrapping back will be needed for it to take. but its a very easy job, just taking the 4 screws and top plate off will allow it to be pulled up enough to do it. both I've done are now much better and can use the whole capacity of the battery whereas before after the top battery bar dissapeared they were near useless. hope this helps
