Users warn EU new regs will cost lives

Another thing that worries me is that if flavours are also banned, people will want to add their own and the chances of someone making an error and using oil based flavours are going to be quite high. :(

True, just like everything else that governments ban or try to regulate when people take it upon themselves they can be doing unknown harm with unknown additives, however those of us that DIY are going to make a KILLING selling e liquid out the boot of our cars ;)

true as above some people may make a mistake and use oil based flavourings which as we know should not be vaped - also idiots and cowboys who know nothing about it will be trying to cut pure nic and fuck it up there wlll be deaths

Some campaigners also fear that e-cigarette use in public is normalising smoking again and may end up being a gateway to tobacco for young people.

How many times will we have to read that ? Smoking has been normal forever.

The European Parliament hasn't banned their use. But it is going to impose restrictions on the kind of e-cigarette that can be sold.

They'll never achieve it.

The growing community of vapers believe it's an assault on a product that is saving their lives by removing the temptation of tobacco.

Hmmmmm !

"The vaping community has worked hard to make sure it's as safe as possible. We have worked with trading standards to ensure the nicotine juices are safe and properly labelled.

"But now if I go to the black market, I won't know whether the nicotine I'm getting is safe, so the work we have done will have been for nothing."
This is sounding familiar.

Bumping this as hopefully more members will leave comments on the article/TPD vote on the beeb site

(please tell me off if I'm not allowed to do this!)

That's the thing though that the Governments have been trying to do for atleast the past 10 years of what I can remember, they're trying to alienate smokers and make them seem like a lesser member of society. Painting a picture of dirty scruffy people who cant live without a fix of nicotine making them smell awful and kill themselves in the process. A toned down version of a smack head basically.

You can't paint that picture with e cigs, they smell good, they taste good, and shit some of them look damn cool and no one of any age can truthfully deny that. And that's the problem, it's an old fashioned view just how smoking was glamorised as the healthy be all and end all medecine for toothache, headaches and period pains, improving your health while looking cool back in the 1920s/30s.
Think of how much money time and effort it's taken to change that view to influence people of how truly terrible it actually is, they're thinking that the exact same thing will happen as in the 1920's which in all honesty, just goes to show how out of touch and out of date politicians have become, laden with bitterness that people once deemed in that category of a shiny smack head can now have their own personal benefit and enjoyment out of something that they think is 'disgraceful' while being a no lesser member of public in the eyes of others.

The whole thing with 'gateway to tobacco' though is just fucking downright silly, it's obvious these people causing all this have never been addicted to cigarettes and never tried a proper e-cig. And just how I think other things should be regulated, you cant say shit on the subject unless you have first hand experience with said subject, but unfortunately politics doesn't work like that as bobs sisters older brother want's to be the party and he told you a funny joke last time you met, theres no other vacancies so bollocks to it, bobs sisters older brother who has no experience in said subject, can be the one to regulate and instruct policy on subject.

It's shit.
