I have some vanilla custard and it's been a nice vape but over the past few days it is making me have the worst tickley cough ever.
the cough is so bad it's almost making me retch and making my eyes water.

I will also note that the missus has said that it smells like ash rather than nice smells. She has never been round when vaping custard though. It tastes fine to me.

It is Tootin juice 6mg. I got 30ml about 1 and a half months ago and used half then had it sat in the cupboard until the other day.

I am using a freshly cleaned out mini protank 2 with a fresh coil @ 7W.

I thought I would have one more try taking sips of water after every drag. After 10 puffs and 10 minutes later I'm coughing my guts up. Why is this??

Rather than the taste, look into the makeup of the Juice... what percentage PG to VG. I find the higher PG give a better throat hit, but too much PG gives me a cough.

No particular scientific backing but from my own meandering experience in the opening stages of my vaping Journey.

I vape mainly T-Juice's Colonel Custard, which for me is the perfect balance.

Your PG content it too high or your coil is hot spotting. I never mix my juice above 50% PG because it dries my mouth too much. Can't comment on how to wind your coil as I've never used a clearo, glasso, whatever they're called thing, I only use Genesis.

Have you tried swapping the coil atty head out for a new one? Sometimes the ones from factory can be temperamental or have defects, I once bought a pack of 5 and 2 were duds!

That's the first thing I would check, has the cough been getting worse since you started using that juice? Does it stop when you start vaping another kind of juice?
What's the pg to vg ratio and nic content?

Heard about a too high a PG mix causes this.

The juice is 50/50. I first started using pure PG but this got way to harsh for my throght but never made me cough.

What are hot spots and what affect would they have?

I never thought about the atomiser, but yes as soon as I swap to my 50/50 banana cream pie, the cough starts to go away.
I can vape all day on the BCP but as soon as I have even 5 puffs of custard, the tickly feeling starts to come.

I guess the best thing to do would be to replace the coil.
I used to use this as an ADV in an iClear16 and never had an issue so the only other thing it could be is this.

Ooops - : ) - thx for pointing that out.

Original post now changed. ;)

It sounds like it could be the juice to be honest mate! I find that with certain brands, well one brand in particular - Mirage E-liquids, something in them gives me a really mucousy cough, I can even hear my chest wheezing after a few tokes.

Is the BCP Roar vapor? If so good choice ;) one of my favourite ADV's. Anyhow, I recommend trying a different brand of vanilla custard, two I can recommend straight off the bat are Vape Munki's Bazilla Custard (which is a 60/40 vg/pg mix for those who prefer more VG) and Mr. Krakens Kingslayer.

Kingslayer is more of a heavy custard with a hint of vanilla with a strong throat hit whereas Bazilla Custard is smoother, less of a punch but still strong and has more of a biscuity vanilla custard thing going on, my current favourite ADV.
