It goes to show you can't have too much experience or knowledge when vaping. He fortunate it wasn't worse.

Yep, I'd say those are the real pics, the ones in the first post must have just been to show what mod he was using. It certainly looks like a nautilus and it explains how a battery vent burnt his tongue. The Venting simply blew through the insulator in the coil and straight up the through the chimney. He must have hard shorted it for it to do that.

i have 2 nautilus tanks and the centre pin will indeed sit flush and even sit within the 510 threading
on the base when pressed so if this is what he was using bodged into a hybrid connector
then the slightest tweak and it could hard short the battery.

i went off on one on several of the Faceache posts about this and i am convinced
about 3 things
1 it was operator error
2 said operator is a cretin for not ensuring the tank 510 fitting was absolutely compatible with the mod
(we all quickly learn that the 510 'standard' aint so standard after all with numerous types of centre pin)
3 this will be used by the anti's as another stick to beat us all over the head.

Regulated mods should have a setting which stops the user going over 5V. No matter the wattage, anything over this and the juice starts getting hot.

He says in his comments that he was doing everything right using a 0.5ohms coil on a tank on regulated mod... then shows pics of a hybrid unregulated mod and dripper combo as what he was using... he has maintained throughout that it wasn't his fault and was an ecig although some other people have said they think it was powder burns or whatever. .. but the fact he states regulated mod means I am calling bullshit on that... and a 4nine would vent through the switch not upwards of the atty was screwed in as shown. .. he initially showed no pics of mod... then showed a mod looking like a forced patina had been done on the outside of it and same kind of cosmetic damage to a battery wrapping. .. but if the battery vented it would be much different damage pattern and more severe than that... plus if the mod was hot enough to discolour as he shows it in some pics it would burn your hand way before venting into your mouth... noone but an idiot would keep firing a mod that was that hot... and even most complete morons wouldn't. .. the whole thing justs stinks of bullshit
