What's new

Veritas build.

... don't you have to tip the dripper to the side to make sure it's catching the juice.
No. I vape it til I get reduced vapour and on inspection the top of the wick has become drier but not dried out, same with the tail of the wick on one side. There's no juice left on the other side. It's wicking very efficiently. I have yet to pull out a wick from either Veritas that has even darkened inside the coil area, Miss Pepper would probably rinse them and reuse.

I was about to make another coil, but instead of making new coils I've been fiddling about with the coil already in. I hired the coil so the bottom of the coil was about halfway to the airhole. I've gotten bored of that coz the vapour production doesn't seem as good and the flavour still isn't enough. So I just decided to lower the coil again so it's in line covering the airhole. This time though I really pushed the coil as close as possible to the airhole, and the flavour seems better. I didn't realise it was good to have to that! close, but it's nearly touching.

I've also been perfecting how much muji cotton to use. Just enough seems to be enough. I guess it all comes down to experimenting. One day I'll get it!
Are you building vertical coils or horizontal? Definitely you want the coil close to the airhole but avoiding shorts. Also try reducing the airhole to increase flavour. I vape mine fully open to lung hit. With Muji wicks I use plenty but not too much ... close to choking the coil is the best way I could describe it.

ok thanks for the advice. Yeah I know I'm getting the wicking right now as I used to take the wick out and it'd be slighly black. Now when I remove a wick it is much clearer, or not dark at all.

I'm using a horizontal coil single parallel coil. I usually have the airhole fully open. I find when the airhole is closed a bit that it doesn't seem to make that much difference to flavour in the veritas. In fact sometimes it makes it worse. But that may just be me.

Just wanted to come back to this one ;)

I finally got round to trying this method and the world didn't end, nothing blew up and the wick seems pretty saturated. I've got less cotton coming out the top than your example but it doesn't seem to suffer for it.

Sometimes the vaping world seems counter intuitive to me but if it works then it works ;)

Any difference in performance though?

It's hard to say, I haven't really 'connected' with the Veritas so haven't used it much. I feel like there is a difference but it could be down to the coil/juice. Maybe a little less dense but the airflow is improved which kind of go hand in hand.

Nah, me neither. Bought a Mephisto recently but it was quite leaky, so was gettin fed up with that and built a new veritas coil. I love how the veritas doesn't leak at all, I love that! I just wish it performed. I'm back on the mephisto now and have the leaking under more control.

Do you mean less dense flavour or vapour? I guess it depends what type of build you got in there whether it's worth shortening the wicks or not.

PS: Don't worry about restating this thread. I think it's better to keep one thread going for a while. :)

I'm tempted to get a veritas, I like the idea of a Dripper that doesn't leak.

I really have to get a hold of some MUJI as well and see the difference compared to my usual cotton.

I dunno man, given what I know now, if I had the chance over again I'd take my chances with the marquis. The top nut on the Veritas is a bitch and the marquis has a much more effective solution.

Either that or wait for the Veritas MkII ;)
