Hi all,

Can anyone give me a list of parts and tools I'm gonna need to start rebuilding EVOD heads? Want to try the micro coils with cotton, but what size wire(s) should I buy?

Also wanna start getting geared up for better stuff like RDAs.

From what I've gathered I'm gonna need:

Kanthal (which sizes)
Organic cotton wool
Cutters (nail clippers?)
Some kind of burner (jet style lighter?)

Also, is it worth getting a dedicated resistance checker or shall I just use a mod with reader? Anyone just use a multi meter?

Kanthal whichever size you want... I use .20 Kanthal for most of my builds...

Cutters, ie scissors, nail clippers are fine
A regular lighter is all you need for flaming wire.

I have an ohm checker from stealthvape that I use

:)

Thanks.

Is it possible to use a multi meter to check the resistance of your coils after winding them and before fitting them properly rather than getting it all finished and finding out it's not what you were after?

Kanthal A1 between 0.28 and 0.32mm ( beware the confusion in sizes between mm size and AWG size )
the rest are really down to you on how much you want to spend so can go like this

Long nose pliars ( for squeezing coils ebay -£2-3 )
tweezers
nail clippers
wire cutters
micro screwdrivers
toothpicks, drill bit etc ( for winding coil, i use around a 1.2mm drill bit i think im sure someone or a youtbe vid will tell ya the exact size )
helping hands with magnifier
butane blow torch ( ebay about a fiver )
blunt nosed needle and syringe

all in i reckon about £20 should cover eveything above

oh and ohms meter, normally around £12-14 from a number of UK vendors

If you have a multimeter you are correct you don't need an ohm - meter.

Mason.

Depending on what device your using depends on coil. Rule of thumb is thicker the wire, the lower the ohms. So 0.20mm will be higher ohms than 0.30mm wire. For an Evod I started with 30 awg (gauge) so that's 0.25mm wire, but I like lower ohm coils now so I started using .28mm wire 29/30 awg

This is a good reference point.

for my micros u used a 1.5 or 2.0mm drill bit and just bought a bag of cotton balls from the pharmacy for about a quid and its going to last me forever!
