What's new

What have you noticed yourself saving money on?

Im still saving money even though im buying mods. Yes a £20 mod here here and there adds up, but still cheaper than cigs.

I dont have to choose between a pub meal / outfit over cigs.

Ive also got a savings jar going on the last few weeks where spare £1 and 50p get thrown in. Yes "spare" money.

As others have said life is priceless :D

You keep telling yourself that, you don't have to justify anything to us. :D

I'm more interested in prolonging my life over saving money so that I can see my daughters grow up and spend as much time as I can with them.

My best mate is also fighting lung cancer and watching him go through what he's gone through in the last year has really hit home. Big reality check!

Like most, dont think ive saved much money, but health is better and I actually have something to show fir my cash not just a full ashtray, and there worth something if I need more shiny things

Saving money was never the issue for me although after 7 months off the fags I reckon I'm at least £1000 in the black. It would have been a lot more at this stage but I've recently bought a lot of DIY mixing gear including quite a lot of nic base. Hopefully I should see the return on this as I stop buying pre-mix juice.

As has been said by others, saving my health is my motivation now.

I'm saving a fair few quid despite getting carried away buying stuff in these early days. Also, I imagine that'll lessen over time.

It's not a big deal but I'm also saving time. I don't vape at work - a bit in the mornings and a lot in the evenings but unlike smoking, I'm not so far feeling the need to do it intermittently all day. So no smoke breaks at work = getting a bit more done which is handy, since I'm self-employed. Even in the pub I don't have to waste time traipsing outside to lepers' doorway as my local is vape-friendly.

But yeah as everyone else says, health improvement is the biggie. Though having smoked 30+ years I'm not expecting miracles...
That's interesting, I'm finding I don't have an urgent need to vape in the morning like I did with the smokes and definitely don't feel like I need to vape as much as I smoked in general.

I don't know if any of you fairly recent quitters have the same experience, but I was noticing that I wasn't getting satisfied by smoking cigarettes, which was something I think went along with the reduced nicotine levels in them. Something that is inexplicably being allowed, considering the research used against the recent lawsuit against tobacco companies in the US showing that 'lite'/reduced nicotine/tar brands just make smokers smoke more and inhale the smoke more deeply. It looks like 0.8/0.9mg are the highest commonly available cigarettes, when it used to be much higher AFAICR.

But that's interesting that you also don't feel the need to vape as often as you smoked. Maybe that's across the board?

Likewise in the mornings TAR - no more 'must have a brew and a fag' urge the instant I wake up! It is interesting, although I'm not at all sure why this might be. It wasn't really a conscious thing - I just found I was barely bothering at work so stopped taking whichever particular gadget I was using at the time in with me. I don't get cravings at all let alone that must-have-a-fag desperation I'd get during one of my many failed attempts to chuck smoking in the past. Yet I still very much look forward to unwinding with one of these little tubes of delight when I get home.

No idea how common (or not) this is - maybe the more experienced people are better placed to comment.

I've definitely saved even though its only been five weeks. I've not indulged in too many shiny things yet or loads of juice, so I'm definitely in credit compared to if I'd still been smoking. Plus I've saved on the impulse buys too. I went to the shop every day and nearly always bought something else while i was theres. Now i don't have that so saving more than just cigarette money.

Likw others have said I've noticed my vaping habit is different to the smoking one for me. I had a dose of quitters flu which apparently may be an infection. So decided to only vape when I badly craved. That's not happened yet so I've not vaped for four days and not suffering withdrawals at all. Quite amazed by it tbh because I'd definitely haved smoked if I was still on them, even if I'd only had one or two. So its win win for vaping for me.

My GF won't allow me to buy more vaping gear without repeatedly stating "we can't afford it" yet would mug a Granny to make sure I never ran out of tobacco.I have a Vamo/mech/home-brew battery box,and 3 tank attys plus a couple of drippers and mix my own juices so never run out of my nicotine needs.I was burning over £30 per week. Now,I buy a tenners worth of flavourings every two weeks.

The switch to vaping was expensive initially(more than my weekly smoking)but once I had the gear, the savings are huge. There is also the massive improvements in health,I no longer feel like I need a fecking oxygen mask just to go for a piss. :P

OP you hit the nail on the head about collateral purchases. Every morning, corner shop, 20 Bensons please oh and a magazine, packet of sweets, couple of scratchies, can of pop, paper, might as well have a new lighter as well.

Certainly sir, that'll be £20 please!

Every flippin' day!
