Exactly - I got given one of those coily jig things when I started .......... I just used the post on it to wrap my wire round ........... then went back to screwdrivers. :D

it’s madness. people will buy special machines to do the most straightforward things, like twisting wire round a wee stick. :)

I confess I did try it once, came out with something that looked more like a mosquito coil! :8:

My issue, once u screw down the legs or position the coil the wraps towards the edges sometimes get a little oval or out of line, and i need a tool that can gradually open it up instead of just trying to jam a 3mm rod into an out of shape,

I need like the r2d2 data spike

why don’t you just leave the stick in it while you screw the ends in?

Sometimes i do, sometimes its hard because i dont have three hands, sometimes just putting the cotton through tho can bend it a little.

I can build perfectly fine without one or even leaving the rod in, its just a tool that i think would make working with my wire less of a challenge

I admit i am thinking about picking up a spool of awg kanthal, but i vape a little less restricted mtl or even dtl and i can absolutely tell the diff beteen plain wire and a simple clapton even

I do what Zou does, just leave the rod/screwdriver in the coil whilst I clamp it down.
