Hi folks, :newhere:

I've joined this forum on behalf of my mother who doesn't use PCs and basically we're looking for a bit of advice.

She's been a smoker all her life and currently smokes about 20-30 Richmond Superkings a day (including night), she has in the past tried those cigarette a-likes (the ones with the glowing tip) that were in the paper and says it tastes like puffing on burning metal.

She's recently seen these e-cigs in the paper and asked me what they we're like, like I actually know! (I don't smoke). So I did a google search and one of the first results was this site and so here I am!

I've read some of the guides and understand some of it but it's kinda hard working out what she needs and which to buy as there are so many options.

Do you guys have any recommendations / advice?

Thanks!

Hi there!

I can only go on what I have used so far which has kept me of the fags for 8 weeks today! I was a 15-20 pall mall blue smoker.

I started of with a £30 starter kit ego battery x 2, charger, aspire bdc tank that I got from Vapetime via a guy at my local market. He let me try various e liquids and I settled on a 16ml RY4 pleasure which is a caramel tobacco taste. 16ml is kind of mid way in the nicotine stakes, they range from 6-24 I think? The eliquid is a personal choice and you can get various tasters. Dark Star Vapour has a great offer of 6 x 10ml bottles with various nicotine strenghts for a tenner or so including postage.

There are lots of kits out there, a decent start up shouldn't cost the earth to try it out, 3-4 packets of fags equivalent.

I've personally got on really well with it, my taste buds have changed liquid wise, there are so many to try and so many vendors. Myepack, smok shop and Vapetime are ones I have used so far.

I personally didn't get on with the fake fag gear but agaib personal choice.

I've put a pic of what I started on.

Hope that's of some use. I'm not an expert, there are plenty of guys ib here that are though!

I would recommend the same as the first poster I have tried lots of cartomiser but in the year and a half I have been off the dags I found the aspire BDC the best so far and it's cheap. You will have to buy spare atomisers for it and I would change them every week or so. Sometimes they just are not as effective or sometimes you get a burned taste. They are very simple to change just unscrew and screw the new one in. But remember to put a couple of drops of fluid in first. I hope this helps any questions please ask.

If you're stuck due to all the different names and variants of devices with regards to compatability and what they do, don't be! They all produce vapour :)

There is numerous vendors who are members on here who sell Ego battery starter kits with usually disposeable tanks called ce4's, along with chargers and often a case to carry them in.

People often usually go for something like a battery with variable voltage and a glass tank that has replaceable wicks and coils as an upgrade after the starter kits, meaning you don't need to throw the full tank out once the coils and wicks need changing. Or some people go for these kits straight off the bat, the most popular one seems to an Ego spinner battery with a Mini Protank 2

I wouldn't pay more than 30-40 quid for a starter kit though, and for the higher end of the price spectrum I'd expect two batterys, two tanks, a charger and a case. maybe even a bottle of e liquid too.

Take a look on the POTV Marketplace: http://marketplace.planetofthevapes.co.uk/Ecigarettes/Ecig-Kits

OK I'd reccomend this starter kit, http://myepack.co.uk/kits/e-vod-kit.html It has two batteries, two Evod tanks, 5 spare heads for the tanks, charger & manual. All you need is liquid. Since your mother doesnt use a PC I'd normally reccomend Totally Wicked E-liquid as they are the most extensive chain, however the closest one to Warwick (The centre of your district) is in Shirley - Solihull which is about 15 miles away. I would however imagine their is a vape shop of some type either in Warwick or Leamington, I also seem to remember that Liberty flight E-Liquids are now available in Bargain Booze stores...

Liberty flights in Bargain Booze?
Oooh, - didn't know that. Will check it out....
You learn something new every day....

Thanks for all the great advice guys really appreciated! (More is also welcome!):thankssign:

Now we have some idea of what she needs and around about what prices things are she can pop in to town (Nuneaton, Warks) and see what the shop there offers (I don't know what shop it is but she says there is one that sells e-cigs etc) and hopefully she wont get ripped off!
