Hi everyone,
Just a quick look at some budget vape-supplies from China:
1. Premade wick/wires
2. Pre-coiled welded wires
I thought I'd do a little review as I know there are many vapers who lack the dexterity, confidence, physical ability, eyesight or patience to wraps coils.
1. Premade wick/wires
These came in a bag of 50, costing £1.39 delivered via the slowboat.
They come in a variety of resistances and wick types.
The ones I chose are 2.4ohm, 35AWG nichrome, 4x1mm silica.
I wanted a high resistance as I'd be using these for multiple coils.
Before using these I gave them a good torching to remove any impurities and lurgy.
I thought I'd try a quad coil dripper first, figured I'd be getting about a 0.60ohm resistance. It was a little fiddly getting all the little wires through but I managed it in a few minutes:
(SAFETY NOTE: If you're new to this you must read up on sub-ohm vaping safely before attempting a build with a low resistance like this! This is no joke, if you do it wrong there can be VERY serious repercussions!)
Nipped, tucked, tidied and checked for even coil glow:
Not the neatest job but it'll do.
Wet those wicks with some "Hobbit's choice" by Vapemunki and fired 'er up:
Verdict:
Not bad at all!
Been vaping away on this one and the flavour and vapour are top notch.
It's burning through juice at quite a pace though.
Quad coiling isn't really my bag, thought I'd try an easy dual coil in the igo-w4:
This one came in at about 1.2ohms, juiced up with "Ginger nut" by Mrs Lord and stuck it on the coolfire ii
Is that the wackiest looking dripping set-up or what?
Vaping at 12.5 watts, this is much more my speed, a mellow satisfying vape with smooth flavour.
2. Pre-Coiled Welded Wires
These came in a bag of 50, costing £1.31 delivered via the slow junk.
They come in a variety of resistances and gauges.
You can order them loosely coiled or micro-coiled
The ones I chose are loosely coiled 1.8ohm, 33AWG nichrome
The length of the tails is 30mm each.
These are non-resistance/resistance/non-resistance wires.
You can use these in any number of devices. I tried them in a RBA and they worked a treat.
What I really got them for though was for clearomisers.
I prefer to use non resistance wire for my leads when recoiling clearos to avoid burning the little grommets at the base of the head.
Stuck one in a FAAtank (the same would apply to an evod, protank or whatever):
(Forgot to picture it but I stuck a little screwdriver through the coil to position it correctly, then trapped the leads.)
Threaded a little cotton through:
Nice!
That was extremely easy, took no time at all.
I noticed that the welding on these leads is much tougher than other non-res/res wires I've bought, which would snap all the time.
Man, I'm long-winded!
This has rambled on for way too long,
I'll sum up by saying I was pleasantly surprised by how easy and effective these products were and wouldn't hesitate in recommending them to anyone who can't coil/won't coil.
Ok have a great day everyone,
Paul
