What's new

A vape box delivered to your door every month.

I absolutely, positively believe I will get cheaper by shopping around - and more of what I want by selecting it. I don’t have any need for this service. Or rather, I hate the entire concept of this service.

A beginner needs a starter kit, coils, juice and advice - the last one coming from a person and not a box. What happens if they hate the juice? What happens if they burn the coil? What happens if they can’t work out why the mod switches off or why the batteries don’t recharge themselves?

We have had a number of box companies start up and In the end they all go to the wall. It’s a solution to an ill-defined problem that doesn’t exist in the first place.

Sure, they come up with fancy unique selling points, but they aren’t unique or genuine selling points. Invariably they ship out bum juice and overpriced extras.

Tag on the fact that the more you provide the greater the stockholding requirement, the more expensive the picking and packing arrangement, and the larger operating capital you need. With such constraints you need to be sending out hundreds of boxes a week, utilising a large workforce and sizeable warehousing.

And, if the range you are thinking of offering could fit in a bedroom and be run by a single person, what’s the point?

It’s not that this idea hasn’t been thought of - it’s been though of, laughed at and dismissed. In order for it to work you’d need the logistal set-up of something like Vape Club...a company that totally doesn’t want to offer this as a service.

But, whatever, good luck with what you decide.

This is brill. Very interesting stuff here. If you have any more thoughts please get in touch!

Awsome questions. I'll try my best to answer

You say add ons and accessories, can you go further in to that ?

I can yes to an extend. I have an idea about a mystery liquids, cleaning tools, maybe a menu for a specific supplier who is looking to promote. Again very early stuff and will change depending on what customers want. Just an idea.

Imho beginners need stock coils and juice and nothing else until they start looking at DIY’ing (negating need for your juice deliveries) or until they start building coils (negating need for monthly coils)

True true, but how many vapers actually look into the DIY side? A few, most, definelty something to need to find out.

Advanced vapers need a lot of add ons and accessories however I don’t understand where you would get these from
Drip tips for example - there are no decent generic tips about which is why most people go custom - will you liaise with custom tip makers ? What stops us just getting made what we want and when ?
Other accessories - high end caps, Billet Box doors etc - again all custom made

Its clear different segments of user require different things. Great point though.

What sort of add ons have you thought of that vapers will genuinely need every month ?
I buy a bag of cotton and it lasts me 6months +

Its more about added something that customers will go 'Oh thats cool, look what i got". If that makes sense. Again up in the air.

So unless it’s one off purchases from custom places there is nothing I need every month except juice

Also, you mentioned waiting for deliveries
How would you get round this ? If I buy your monthly box and run out I still have to either wait for your box to arrive or buy extra from someone else

the idea is that you wouldn't but again interesting point maybe its an area i need to iron out.

Thanks for this! Really useful

I had kinda hoped you might have thought about these things before starting and you might have some answers, however it seems a bit clutching at straws
Maybe a bit more market research might be needed

This is great insight. It is so important for me to understand why this failed in the past.

Ok, so I'm probably 87.6 billion miles away from any form of target market, but hey ho, here goes...

I'm a vaping noob. No, I really am. 5 1/2 weeks in. My wife started at the same time, so consider this answers from two potential customers.

How many coils do we use a month?

This is a seemingly simple question with a complex answer...

I have no clue. Having only just over one month's experience I can't really quantify.

But, we're on the first nunchaku coil, and the second spryte coil. And, erm, about 20+ sets that I've built for the rebuildable tanks. Some of those lasted a couple of hours before I felt like trying something else, some have been in and out 5 times...

So I really can't see it's viable to get coils put in the box.

Juice...

80ml was mentioned. Ok, that's just over a week, for me, maybe. We'll be needing more thanks, lots more.

Only issue is we've just ordered enough stuff to DIY a few litres. It's going to work out roughly around 30-50p for a 10ml equivalent.

Can you get near?

Extras? Maybe it's because I'm so inexperienced, but I can't honestly think of any accessories that would be a monthly requirement.

So yeah, sorry ;)

Now, for a 'normal' noob...

How many coils per month?

"I don't know, what do you think?"

How much juice per month?

"I don't know, what do you think?"

What strength juice do you need?

"I don't know, what do you think?"

What flavours do you like?

"I don't know, what do you think?"

Aaaaand so on.

Bear in mind, the answers I got from a few shops to every one of those types of questions was wrong, so

What's your returns policy?

Awesome, just to confirm is that what offline shops were saying to you? Mental

The sort of things they were saying were wrong for me, but probably bang on for others.

Nic strength? Based on how much I smoked, the recommendation was 12 or 18 mg juice. I went for 12 and had to dilute it, I'm now on a max of 3mg.

Juice flavours - the one that had our custom in the end was the one that had a sample rack of juiced up tanks to try. The ones who were like "you could buy these to try", not so much.

Hardware - basically I completely went against all the sensible advice and was (and am) happy with that decision.

Can i ask if you vape @Josh Williams?
And can i also ask where you got your idea from and what is it in the back of your mind that tells you there is a demand for such a venture?
Is it just an idea, epiphany type thing?

is it just me that feels uneasy when they see the name Josh, ps to the OP i hope you dont do batterys.
