Accidentally ignited my RDA..!

Sooo. Funny story...

Had an evening of cleaning tanks and re-coiling and wicking the other night. I've only used kanthal in my velocity RDA until the other night when I wasn't paying attention, and used titanium instead. Being too lazy, I left it in.

I noticed I was getting 'dry hit' type sensation if I put the temp up to maybe 500 oF, so pulled the top off, hit fire, and man did that thing fire! The coils burst into flames and burnt like a little candle until I blew it out!

Tried it again, same thing!

So, what the hell?!?!?! I have of course re-coiled now with kanthal, but I want to learn from my mistakes.

Some info:
Mod = iStick TC60
Coils = 7 wraps titanium 0.321 dual coil, think it was about 0.4ohms
Cotton was organic cotton, and was still very soggy, was still liquid in the wells
temp was supposed to be about 500 oF

Did I miss something? Thanks in advance for any insights into my stupidity, please be gentle with me or I might cry...!

@vapellie did you set the resistance at room temperature before firing. I did this schoolboy error ONCE

It was running too hot, presumably either the atty not locked in at room temp or the Material setting was wrong. It ignited the juice - this happens - @Raguri can give you the lowdown on how to incinerate wicks and terrify people...

Lol @ned I will indeed be sticking to kanthal in my RDA! But my tanks are titaniumed up, I like not getting dry hits. Although I prefer non-flammable hits too!
But ahh, ahem, I may have forgotten to lock the ohms down...! Had just switched mod.

should that not be the other way around? its harder to tell when an RDA is getting dry than it is to tell when an
RTA is.RTAs have windows that give you a clue
