"Addicted" to Furlough Benefits

We haven't been told to use holidays yet but I can see it coming. If we don't get back onsite until the end of the year I can't see them allowing us to use a month's worth of holidays before the cut off.
In my eyes it's fair enough and to be honest I'm finding home working hard on the old brain so a few days off here and there have been welcome

See that’s the problem, legally they would need to let you take them. That’s why places are asking people to take holidays. We asked folk to take, every three months, the number of holidays they would accrue in that time. So five days for most people.

I agree with you, working from home five days a week can be a bit of a slog. A day off here and there or a few long weekends is useful.

If you are working from home the annual leave thing is what is i’m afraid. We are asking people to do the same thing, i think most employers are. Otherwise there will be a situation where when everyone is back at work they all have loads of annual leave organisations will need to honour and end up short staffed.

If you are off sick, you can’t take annual leave and they can’t force you to. That would be against the law.
My company have told us that we can carry over unused holiday to next year in order to avoid this scenario. Although, I'll be using mine up as I don't expect to be there next year.

Aye @Banjostring i heard some are doing that. It wouldn’t work in my place as it would just cause chaos next year, but it’s maybe a better way if it’s workable.

Furlough scheme is being extended until end of October.
