hi all
I have been doing some research on line about the use and benefits of e-cigs. Most medical research suggests that e-cigs are 95% safer that smoking cigarettes. Even the British medical commission says they are much safer than smoking cigarettes and recommend smoker should switch to e-cigs.
If this is the case then why are they allowed to push them through advertisements as a means to helping smokers give up giving the health benefits of e-cigs. Or just saying if do no wish the smoke they we recommend you use e-cigs.
I think the government has a obligation to the public to inform the smoking community of the benefits over traditional cigarette. They allowed advertising of patches, gums and mouth spray why not e-cigs.

Because Big Tobacco and Big Pharma have very deep pockets, with which to sway government policies. They are losing some of that income due to people switching, and it upsets them greatly. Neither could give a shit about people's health, it's all about money. On a brighter note, have a look into what they're doing in the US: we have it comparatively easy in the UK.

As for advertising, I've seen 2 huge ads at bus stops this week - for Logic Pro and @88Vape. They're probably both owned by one of the Big Chunts, but I cba looking in to it. Like I say, deep pockets :19:

I had a pretty girl ask me questions on sunday with a clipboard im a sucker for a pretty girl seeing as she must have thought I was 26 as Milan my crazy barber had just done my hair (liz said she was being nice) but she started saying about ecigs and pods now pods and me are swear words so I gave her a business card and told her to walk towards the light..........

Regardless of the politics behind it, advertising regulations are very strict. You can't extoll the virtues of X or Y without sufficient evidence. You can no longer say that make-up makes you younger for example or that these pills will make you stronger. Putting up Vape ads that claim to be a healthy alternative would not meet regulations.

Hi Leni,

No Chunts here :18: (whatever one of those is) :)

We are family owned business in Manchester and we are making a big advertising push this year. All of our e-liquids are made on-site in Manchester too.

Advertising in the Vaping industry is hard work with lots of restrictions. We are keeping it simple, 'Quality £1 E-liquids made in the UK'- that is our message :-)

As @Huggett says, some advertising is allowed. We've been working quite closely with the Advertising Standards Agency to ensure that our advertisments and discount codes are allowed under the legislation. We've been challenged three times and the cases have been dropped :)

I was in Rome for 5 days in November. I saw 2 adverts for e-cigs (pod devices), but only saw one vape shop and that had closed down.
