Can anyone give me some advice about the wire on the bottom of a 510 please.
I recently won an Aspire Feedlink Revvo Kit and it has had non stop leaking issues.
I first thought it was not sealing where the bottle meets the silicone bung under the 510. Then it started getting into the battery compartment so I stopped using it but before I get angry and throw it, I decided to take it apart to see if I could see what was wrong.

Unscrewed the top and there's drops of juice in there too. Then I noticed that the wire soldered to the bottom of the 510 pin was a big blob of solder. Now the way I see it is, how can the flat bottom of the pin seat ontop of the flat rubber bung if it's got a blob of solder stopping it !

Do you think this is why it's leaking ?
Can I grind the excess solder off ?

Hope you can make it out from the photo.

Any advice welcome please or it gets binned [emoji6]

I would say you have two issues here the solder is large but I expect the seal in the 510 is at fault

try screwing an attey on with mo batteries in the mod you should see the 510 pin move down if it doesn't it's the solder if it does its the seal inside the 510 is dodgy

Thanks for replying @vapesmarter
The 510 moves down when I screw an atty on but am I right in thinking that because the solder protrudes past the bottom of the disk part of the 510 that this will then in turn not sit flush with the silicone bung underneath it ?

Excuse the crap sketch, but like this. The solder will make it hold off.

it's hard to pinpoint I see what you're saying

normally the 510 has a silicon rubber seal in the attey itself the pin part will move down but the seal also moves with it still seal the shaft

however, if it's an attey that's a no stripable one or if the seal is on the top of the firing pin (look at the firing pin from the top there may be a seal there on the edge of it) otherwise i would say if you cant strip the 510 its a press fit type that has either got no seal or the seal has been cooked when soldered you could try and dremal some solder off but i think its leaking past the pin in the body of the 510 itself

Thanks for that. This particular configuration seems different though. It maybe a new arrangement from aspire. Instead of a pipe on the bottom of the 510 pin this pin just goes through a bung or thick washer and seems to seat on top of that bung. The bottle has a flat top and is then pushed up against the bottom of this bung. A weird design in my opinion but so far I seem to be the only lucky soul that has had a leaking issue with it.

I'm becoming inclined to just bin it actually. I'm a mechanical engineer not an electronic one and I'm not sure I'm confident enough to start playing around near a pcb. If I damage something I could turn it into a pipe bomb.
