Hi all. I'm just after some advice before I take the plunge into attempting some (partial) DIY'ing for the first time. I'm going to buy a pre-mix of 250mls 60 VG 40 PG with 3 mg of nico mixed in, plus two or three flavourings. i'll start with making 30mls at a time mainly because iv got a few empty 30ml glass bottles doing nothing.
what I'm unsure of is what size syringes should I get ? I thought maybe a 30ml with a 5 ml or lower ?.
and just how much flavour should I add in mls to 30mls of premix?
what I'm trying to avoid is buying a stack of stuff that I'm not going to use
thanks in advance................

Each concentrate needs to be used at a different strength so you will need to establish what the recommend % is for the conc. Eg. if it suggested 10% then you would use 3ml of conc and 27ml of premix. if it is an awkward amount use a mixing calculator. doing small amounts and using premix with nic already in then 5ml and 2ml syringes will be fine or just invest in some scales now

I know this isn't what you have asked for but the cost of a few syringes is not far off the cost of a beaker and a set of scales from Amazon. These are £6.99 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ascher-Por...8&qid=1474461386&sr=8-3&keywords=scales+0.01g

Syringes are OK but they are messy, hard to use and more likely to make mixing seem harder than it is. The accuracy you get with scales is better too.

What sort of recipes are you going to be making? If they use ingredients as 1% of flavour then you will need to measure out 0.3ml to make 1% of a 30ml bottle. Decide what you want to make and work backwards from there!

Let's have a look at what you want to make and we can come up with some suggestions for you. I really do recommend mixing by weight though.

One other thing - as you have bought 3mg pre-mixed be aware that adding concentrate at 20% is going to leave with a juice with a final nic level of 2.4mg.

If you haven't bought the premix already I would recommend getting separate VG PG and nicotine, Darkstar is a good place to get the supplies at 3mg 100ml of their 72mg nicotine will make up 2400ml of juice. Not only will it work out to be a lot cheaper in the long run you will also be able to get a constant nicotine level and PG VG ratio as a lot of recipes will call for different amounts of flavour.

Like @junglist says scales are a lot easier than syringes I use a cheap set from ebay and they are plenty good enough for mixing ejuice, just make sure that they measure in 0.01g. If you are going the syringe route, a 30ml and a 5ml would be good but I'd also recommend a 1ml for anything that you need to measure below 0.5ml increments.

As you are just starting out I'd recommend looking at some one shot concentrates, chefsflavours have a few check out the oneshot wonder and diy or die range. They will have the recommended mixing percentage in the description.

Binky I am about to go down the exact same route as you . With the premix etc to see if it's for me before I go further . I intend to use syringes and have as well been told about dark star , who I shall be ordering from . If you look at there concentrates it will give you a margin % wise to use them at.
