An alternative view on disposables and harm reduction

I had to spend many hours researching vapes, reviews, differences in sub ohm, differences in freebase and salts, eliquid brands, battery safety, coils ect and then joined this forum to find out more.

you did that, but you didn’t need to do any of it. you could have just bought a very simple and cheap device, put some liquid in it and that would have been you.

Value for money, the environment, cartoon advertising is not what a smoker will be initially thinking when purchasing disposables.

aye, that’s exactly why it would be better if they weren’t there for them to think about purchasing.

Actually I did what you just said, bought a very simple and cheap device, then I invested my time to a permanent device.

I can't see it as a step backwards when it now cost me half the price of a cigarette packet and requires nothing more than pulling out a plastic plug. Let's say you are out and forget your coil, liquid, no charge or means to charge your kit. You now have the option to use a disposable rather than buy an entire packet of cigarettes and risk going back to smoking since you now have a pack on you. They are an effective gateway and emergency backup but I dont believe they should be used as a permanent solution.

It's a step backwards as cigalikes were out years ago, technology has moved on therefore rendering disposables as being old technology. It would be like cars going back to not having servo assisted brakes, power steering etc. Or dial up internet and a modem.

I always carry spare batteries, have a charger in my car, use homemade coils and have been known to forget to pack juice. I just buy the first thing closest juice to what I usually vape and leave it in work in case I forget again, also putting a spare bottle of my normal stuff in my bag when I get home.

I wouldn't buy a packet of ciggies, like I said I don't like the taste of tobacco, I can't even vape tobacco or stand it when my OH does, the smell lingers. I'd buy an ego / evod / some other vape kit or a stack of lollypops / chewy sweets.

But they are there, they live among us....there will be plenty folks coming on here over the next few years having stopped smoking using them....this data can be used for the good of vaping instead of the fear n doom message currently being peddled here on the UK's biggest vaping forum.

Edit: Just read on FB that Vic is going to start reviewing them....cos he's skint, that and the fact that they are a vaping product a mass market one at that and can't be ignored.

I tried a cigalike many years ago and its safe to say it didn't work. Disposables are now nic salts that are supposedly more effective with nicotine delivery and provide flavours for those that don't like the tobacco flavour.

I don't doubt your capabilities of ensuring you have a back up. I have however seen people remark that they were ready to go and buy cigarettes if it wasn't for a speedy delivery of juice on this forum. If you have to weigh up the pros and cons on disposables, it needs to be for the benefits and downsides for everyone.

Personally if they were banned, it wouldn't effect my life in the slightest. I still however have to respect that because it helped me, it can help others.

vic is the same kind of sort as that guy in the video in the first post with “I GET PAID TO TELL YOU THINGS” in big letters at the bottom. i don’t care about them or listen to them.

But in this case along with many others his position has shifted.....that's fine business is business....but to lack the insight, demonise a vaping product again as many have done under various disguises only to end up realising that they /we are one family shows to me at least a contempt for vaping as a whole.
