An Apology from The Vaping Guru

Places like this are the fallout of the thatcher era.

to an extent, I agree..... but you can't blame the government for your own behaviour and shitty parenting. That's what shocks me, not that these places exist or that there's people living in less than ideal conditions.

But then if every ounce of meaningful existence is removed from a community, work, self esteem, sense of community, respect etc I don’t see how you would expect anything else than the place to turn into a shithole and the residents to resort to getting mad with it to dull their misery.

edit: you can definitely
blame the government for shutting down industry, privatising everything, selling off social housing leading to what’s left becoming ghettoised, demonising the benefit claimants they created, deliberately letting entire areas turn into slums so they can sell them off etc

I’d also say, as far as personal safety goes Glasgow is much safer than many other u.k. cities, pickpocketing, mugging, phone theft, that kind of petty crime is almost unheard of here.

I'm not ignoring this btw ... just thinking. :)

So I just watched a few minutes of the video that @Sp3ckyh0td0g81 posted and I'm pretty sure the emblem outside the Kilmarnock court house that lad goes to is a crude graphic interpretation of a fist giving the middle figure gesture is it not? Sorry, can't be arsed to screen shot it.

@zouzounaki I've thought, considered and still not sure what to say, I partly agree with everything you are saying but there's still elements of it I'm unconvinced by but not enough to blab on about it, especially as it's your country and you are in a much better position to know what's going on than me....... so I think we should just leave it there. :)

Well @simong i think what I said above isn’t necessarily specific to Scotland though, you could look at it more broadly as a u.k. wide problem.

I tend to have a generally socialist kind of outlook. And I find the idea that people are responsible for their own poverty, misery, inability to deal with the adversity the life presents them, to be a pretty selfish point of view. Fair enough people should take responsibility for the things they can, but I think that where people end up in life, in the bigger picture, has much more to do with how their surroundings have treated them and what resources they have had at their disposal. And resources are far too unequally split.

But there you go I think that’s enough of my sociological theorising, back to remarking on how much of a cunt big mad Ray is...

I don’t think it actually was. Glasgow is much safer than people think. It does still have a relatively high murder rate but most of that kind of crime is related to other crime. Unless you’re a gangster, involved in crime or live in a really bad area it’s pretty safe. I found Aberdeen a much sketchier city to live in.

Yeah it was unfortunately, there's statistics on the Internet if you wish to look.
I'm not gonna go posting it because I'd agree with what you're saying. I love Glasgow, I've never felt threatened or uneasy but there was a lot of gangland violence at one point. There's some pretty rough areas in aberdeen these days but it's a mix of rich oil workers and people absolutely scraping an existence

no mate I'm just getting in the car so don't have time to screenshot the image but it's used as part of the towns crest (and my local football teams badge) it's fist forward facing with the first and second finger pointing upwards and has the Latin motto confidemus above it which means we trust like I said not sure the exact version on the courthouse will check it out and come back to you
