What's new

Angela Rippon Goat Porn

OK, help me out here guys.

Got my Gemini, all shiny and new. Coiled it up, wicked it (god that little trapping ring is a PITA), and nearly blew the back of my head off.

It's hot. I mean really hot. All airflow open, well wicked, no dry hits, just a vape I can't take for more than half a second.

I've tried:
2x 0.6 clapton
2x 0.9 clapton
2x 1.2 'normal' Kanthal.

For comparison, a single 0.6 in my Squape (as above) is fine, no problem and all very nice. I can't believe the 'extra' 0.3 ohm taken off can make so much difference. Is this really how you SubOhmers go about it, this lung blasting setup, or am I doing something fundamentally wrong?

Like I say, I have no dry hits, it's certainly wicking fine. This is happening from 30w all the way down to 7.5w on this setup, takes longer to heat but is still way too much. The best example I can give is that it feels like the coils are actually in my mouth.

I've watched people take hits from this at lower ohmage for 5 or 6 seconds, so there's something fundamental going on I think.

Assistance please!

@bobbyconkers what wattage are you running it at typically?

I run my gemini at 65w with 0.43 dual coils, and bottom airflow only opened 1/3 of the way, and i get a warmish vape which is perfect for me. If your's is hot hot, there may be something wrong.
Take the deck out of the tank, remove the wick, and check to see both coils are heating evenly from the centre outwards, and that the grubscrews are secure.

There's a possibility it's reading the resistance of both coils, but one might be loose and not firing fully (which means more voltage through the other coil and hence the hot vape). Had that happen on an RDA before.

Thanks for your attention.

As a very busy and important NHS employee, who saves everyone's lives on a daily basis while scraping in the gutter for scraps of food and pennies and old Tizer cans, I don't have much time for a lot of research.

*Please subsitute "too old and lazy" into above statement where appropriate.

Have a very specific request for recommendations please:

Rebuildable tank (fully rebuildable, not take apart a proprietary with pliers and a hammer) - KFL stylee is fine.
For sub-ohm with Clapton coils 0.5ohm-0.8ohm.
For >80%VG, in most cases 99%VG.
Less than £30 - prepared to experiment on a clone.
No red 'O' rings.
Not leaky, top fill (thus excluding the Lemo 2 which is drippier than a fucked fridge and the top fill is designed to run perfectly down the outside of the tank).
Would ideally like not to use a wide bore drip tip.

I currently use KFL+ and Squape Reloaded at 1.1ohm, but have a juice which just doesn't cut it unless it's down to 0.5-0.6 (having tried it in a shop at that range).

Your worthinesses make warmth in the belly of our tummy fairies. Thank you.
Surprised myself by liking the Griffin. Fits most coils, I've got a pair of cuckoo's Claptons in there at the moment. Doesn't leak and I bought a clone for backup from ft and it's just as good. Flavour amazing for a big sub.

Thanks for the reply matey.

Afraid I don't think this is it. All the setups I've done I've dry burned and they've lit up fine. They've also been screwed in OK (as none of the wires were loose when I rebuilt).

Just to check - on these velocity decks, one puts a coil in bottom-left/top-right of the four screw holes on each side, correct? Not that I can see why I'd be having this problem...

Just to be clear as well, the whole tank gets hot as well, even down to the battery. I'm not using a TC device, just an iStick 30w.

@bobbyconkers Yes, the coils are inserted correctly.

Even at 65w, my tank doesn't get hot. I suspect something isn't right with the build. The coils are not touching the pin in the centre are they? (the one that provides the central airflow to the side of the coils)

No, got a good distance from all posts I think. The two coils are at the same height (between the two vertical airholes), and directly above the bottom (main) air holes.

Ok, here's a latest build. 2x 1.2o registering at 0.6. When I pulse them at 30w, they glow pretty evenly, but doing this for 10s twice makes the deck too hot even to hold.

Comments welcome.
