iv posted this around a few places and so far no one has been able to solve it..

i have a evod battery and standard evod atty...2.5ohm coils, it tasted burnt plastic non stop from day 1 really, i tried new coils, different ohm coils, cleaned atty and coils, tried cotton wicks etc...nothing worked. i tried some new liquid i bough 6 1ml samples...they worked great and fixed the problem...im now using redbull...was working great until today, i decided to clean the atty....rinsed it out, i pulled out the wick from the coil....and crap i cant get it back in...so i found a old coil (wasnt burnt out) used that instead....taste like crap....so i managed to get some cotton in the new coil which was working ok earlier....but now taste like crap...its not the cotton as i use this alot and never had probs and iv put in another coil with silica and still taste burnt.... i put it on my vamo....still burning taste, put my vivi nova on with brand new coil.....still taste burned. the nova has never worked for me though its always tasted very very burning plastic to the point it makes me gag just smelling it lol. im about to smash them up and bin them iv tried literally everything but the taste just wont go...i tried new liquid a min ago too but same crap burning plastic taste.

What pg/vg juice are you using. High vg juices can clog up your wick. Try a higher pg juice?

Yup, same for me on the EVODs. 2 or 3 nice drags Maybe half an hour, then I get burned taste. I even had burned taste at the same time as a flooded coil... Sometimes I wonder if it is all in my mind

80pg-20vg and one in it right now its 70pg-30vg, isnt a liquid issue as was working fine the past few days, its got to be related to coils or something buts its a new coil too

i dont even get 1 good drag bud lol....if your getting a few good drags...try this....take a drag (not to long) then wait 5 seconds before you have another....then another 5 sec gap....keep doing that it worked for me once before as gives it a chance to cool down chain vaping can cause burnt taste too

Is your evod battery a twist version? If so maybe the voltage is set too high. A plastic (maybe rubber) burning taste is possible if the coil is heating up too much and burning the rubber grommet thingy that pinches the coil legs at the bottom of the head - can you see any sign of this at all on your evod heads? Sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick, a burnt taste is one thing, but I know how revolting a rubbery/plastic taste is lol

What wattage or voltage are you running your vamo at?
Sounds to me like you're got it set far too high.

It's not easy to diagnose these issues without actually looking at the thing & examining it but it does sound like your maybe firing it too hot.
Those evods can't take the kind of punishment a more advanced vaper puts them through. When i first had mine they were fine & then as i progressed they couldn't keep up with me & i experienced issues like a burnt taste & dry hitting. For my part, i got something more ballsy.

My Evods sit on top of a plain small eGo battery. Nothing vv/vw at all. Still not working for me...

5 watts bud nowhere near to high on a 2.5ohm, if i go above 5w its mega mega burnt the nova is just about useable at 5w, i used it on my non vv/vw battery aswell....weird thing though this morning i mixed my own liquid and put it in...both vape a bit better now... same coils, same watts, same wicks...still a hint of burning and the flavour isnt as good as it should be though

Burning issues are really hard to diagnose.

It's almost always a wicking problem. When you push the fire button not enough eiquid is in contact with the coil. As the head is designed to have a certain amount of juice over it, if there's not enough it gets too hot and the liquid burns and you get burnt flavour.

What's causing the wicking issues is hard to pin down. It could be lack of priming meaning the first draw is nowhere near saturated enough and it burns what little liquid is at the coil so much that the rest of the vape tastes like crap. It could be way too much airflow causing not enough liquid to be pulled into the tank. you might have got 'stuff' on the exposed wicks (oil from your hands or something lie that) that's not meant to be there and burns easier than the liquid does causing a bad taste. It could be a duff head, or a duff tank that doesn't quite line up properly/and or seal correctly causing the airflow inside the evod to go wonky and not pull the right amount of juice into the coil. It could be a duff tank and the coil wire is burning a little rubber insulator that's inside the head.

Some liquids are really sensitive to higher power settings (5 watts is really low though) it could be a faulty battery that's throwing out way more power than it should be or it's set to high or you have a Vamo set to Mean mode and not RMS mode, you could have too much gunk coating the coil already so that when you go to higher (seemingly normal) power settings what you're actually doing is further burning the crap that's on the coil rather than the liquid in the tank and that's getting you a burnt taste (this problem could also lead to flooding at the same time)

there's problably a bunch of other causes I've not covered as well.

Try these steps.

take the evod apart and put the tank to one side, pull the top off the evod head and look at the coil nside. Is it black? if so - take the 'flavour wick' out and dry burn clean the coil. Carefully clean the flavour wick or replace it with a new one (these fray really easily and it's easier to replace the wick with fresh stuff)

Once the evod is put back together blow it out. Turn it upside down so that the wicks are surrounded with air and not liquid, and blow through the mouthpiece firmly a couple of times. hold some paper towel over the thread end to catch any drips that come out. When no more liquid comes out of the screw thread it's ready to go.

You should blow out the evod after every fill, and if it ever starts flooding. You should dry burn clean the coils every other tank full or so. These 2 steps will fix the majority of burnt taste/flooding problems on an evod (or other similar bottom coil design tank like a PT2)

Another potential fix is to add more silicon to the top of the head. Inside the evod is a metal tube that presses up tight against the base of the gnurled post which has a silicon seal over it. If that doesn't press tight enough it can cause issues. Try putting another silicon seal from another on top of the one that's already there. You can cut off the lip part to make what looks like a little silicon washer for a better fit. This makes the seal larger and more likely to seal properly.
