Are You Having The Booster ?

I believe you can book online with your local GP surgery and get it done there (and get a flu jab at the same time if you're an oldie like me).
Not at my local surgery. They're fookin useless. They don't even like face to face appointments.

My second was on 27th May and my booster is booked for 27th November with my GP.

Funny enough I just got a text from the NHS -

You are now able to book your COVID-19 booster vaccine. Visit https://www.nhs.uk/book-covid-booster or call 119. Choose a time and a place that suits you. Alternatively, you can get your booster vaccine through a COVID-19 vaccine walk-in service without needing an appointment. Find out which walk-in services are offering a booster vaccine near you at https://www.nhs.uk/grab-a-jab. Please note that if you choose to attend a walk-in site, it must be at least 182 days since your second dose.

I am really struggling to see why anyone would not have it :S

Can't speak for anyone else, but from my own personal perspective....

I've already had two. I don't believe for one second those two are all of a sudden ineffective after a few months. Less effective? Maybe so. Ineffective? No chance.

I don't get colds, ever. Not since I was a kid at least. I've never had the flu in my life. Wifey worked in a pre-school for a decade and eventually left because they never stopped sick kids coming in and wifey picked up literally everything. NEVER ONCE caught anything off her despite living and sleeping with her every single day and night for those 10 years. Brother, sis, and mother catch plenty and can take months to shake it off. Never caught anything from either.

And I actually like to avoid viruses. ALL viruses. Having a chimp's Adenovirus filled with viral DNA injected in to me every few months when I've already had it twice just seems a bit - meh.

And I'm an unsociable individual in real life so don't see many people. And those I do will get swatted and kicked in the shins if they get too close. And I'm anal about personal hygiene.

So, 3rd jab? Not a slam dunk by any means me ol' chum. :)

I'm almost exactly the same, hence the thread.
Never had flu, very very rarely have colds. Don't suffer from much else except wear and tear .
It always makes me smirk when I have been to hospital for something and they ask me, at 54, what medication are you on. My reply- none. They're flabbergasted [emoji16]

I'm still very much undecided as to whether to have the 3rd dose or the flu jab come to that (never had that before either). The other half thinks I should but I honestly can't be bothered.

To cap it all, I've just had an email from the NHS inviting me for one. "Your age group " ...... cheeky fuckers.

Its a really tough one mate. People have to decide based on their own lifestyles, needs, the needs of those around them, their conscience and "greater good" argument. I totally get why people would get a 3rd 4th 5th 25th etc. Don't really know how to feel about unvaccinated (23yr old step-daughter refuses to be vaccinated), but vaccinated and boosters? That's a different kettle of fish, imho.

You know what blood type you are by any chance? I share the same blood with only 2% of the population. Swear that's my secret. :hmm:

Oh, and both jabs gave me blood spots all over my chest and arm. Like someone had pricked me with a pin repeatedly. Had to have blood works after and NHS app logs it and the accompanying rash as SIGNIFICANT not MINOR.

Not sure of my blood type off the top of my head. Got it written down somewhere so will have to find that out of curiosity.

BTW. I didn't suffer from any side effects at all so it begs the question why am I a bit reluctant to have anymore !

Maybe because it feels contrary to our intuition based off our own life's path and our own experience and circumstances?

But, sometimes needs must... hence being vaccinated. But boosters... is there REALLY a need? For some maybe, but for us all? :hmm:
