Aspire One vs Aspire Pockex - Help!

Hi everyone,

As probably many of us here I’m very new to vaping, chosen as an alternative to IQOS and hopefully a definitive farewell to tobacco in all forms.

As my first approach I was advised by the guys at Totally Wicked to try Aspire one, a disposable vape, and I chose sweet strawberry liquid, which I loved. I got a great amount of vapour from the little pen and great flavour.

So I bought my new kit, an Aspire Pockex and using the same liquid, the flavour is not as nice, I don’t get the same sweetness.
I have primed my coil - hopefully correctly - but I don’t find the experience as pleasurable as with the disposable one. Would you be able to give me some advice? Am I doing anything wrong?

thank you!

Perhaps I should also add, I haven’t primed the first coil - instructions in the box very basic unfortunately - so I believe I might have burnt it. I then replaced it and did everything correctly.
Could that have tainted the liquid?

Hi @Talula and welcome to the planet.

cant help with the kit as ive not used the pocket x but someone will be along to advise.

was the first kit a throw away disposable. think they usually use nic salts.
if you bought a bottle of strawberry was that a nic salt as well or standard nicotine.

and yes without priming the coil it could of burnt it out. do you have a very harsh throat hit that almost burns the throat. if so then yup, the coils dead.

Hi, and thanks for helping. The first one was a disposable throw away kit, although you would have to fill it in with liquid, it’s not one of those ready-to-go pens. And the liquid itself is a 1.6% nicotine, so i suppose standard.

I know the taste of a dead coil as after a week that’s what the disposable one tasted like, and this is not as bad. But not as good as the One at the beginning, not as sweet. There’s almost a very very subtle bitterness to it?

sorry if I’m not very clear

Hello @Talula and welcome to POTV. I'm sure someone familiar with your kit will be along soon. Enjoy the forum :)

Hi Talula and welcome to the forum .

What coils are you using on the pockex ? is it the 0.60 ohm coil or the 1.2 ohm coil (will be written on the side of the coil)
The "Aspire one up R1" i believe it's called ? uses a 0.80 ohm mesh coil having looked on the net. Is that the kit you had before the pockex ?

Hello and thank you for your answer!

Yes, that’s exactly the one I had before the PockeX. And the coil I have on at the moment is the 1.2 Ohm, I have swapped it after doubting if I had burnt the 0.6 that came installed in it.

If you have indeed burnt out the 0.6 coil, then may i suggest you try another 0.6 ohm coil or you could try a Nautilus 07ohm mesh coil, which in theory should give you a similar vape to the one you had in the Aspire one up R1 kit if it actually had the 0.8 ohm mesh coil installed in it. ?

I haven't tried the pockex kit , but i use the Nautilus x tank which has airflow control and uses the same "U tech" design coils in it , and i really enjoy using the pockex 0.6 ohm coils in it.

I haven't tried 0.7 ohm mesh coils in it so sorry i can't tell you what they are like. Hopefully someone on here may have tried them and can advise !

Wishing you all the best and keep off those ciggies !!

Not tried the New Pockex so can't comment, the old pen type one i have used quite a bit and never had a problem with flavour. I think i used the 0.7 ohm coil and it was great..

I used the Pockex for a couple of months I found the 0.6 coil got to hot for me making the juice to warm for my taste buds, so used the 1.2 coil which suited me better always had good flavour with it.
Perhaps you could try lowering the nicotine strength you said the disposable one was 1.6% which may not suit you and could be affecting the taste. Hope you find what suits your vaping journey.
