It's the nicotine that will be the millstone around vaper's necks.. as long as the antz keep keep trotting out all the negative media hype about nic being addictive and 'toxic', the powers that be will feel justified in regulating/taxing vaping.
There seems to be an unstoppable shift in perception now.. the rabid antz can bleat on all they like about 'the unknown' but word of mouth and people's own experience of vaping and how successful it can be is winning the day. Of course, the vested financial interests have shifted their stance to be cautiously accepting of vaping.. as long as they can get away with regulating, licensing and medicalising high nic devices. This may explain why the media coverage may turn slightly more positive, but I reckon it will always go hand in glove with the proviso that controls and regulation are a necessity.
As a 'militant', my focus will now be on nicotine and how it is perceived in the media and thus, by the general public. Imho 'we' need to be pushing the idea that nicotine is not 'toxic' when used in the 'dosage' range that vaping devices generally cover due to self titration. Also the weighted 'junk science' studies that get pushed forward to try and show nic can cause vascular issues need to be debunked at every opportunity.
I don't think much to Dr Peter Macreth who bangs on about being cautious, talks twist about certain isolated incidents & then advises we all get involved & do our research if we're going to vape ! Fool ! It he'd done his reading he'd know how flawed his preachings are, still behind us !
I'd agree but the man comes across as such a twat without any sound research compared to West and the section based in the hospital. Tag on that he is in favour of using them to get off fags and confirms their efficacy at the end of his interview, contradicting himself, I still think that this and the ASH ITV interview are overwhelmingly positive.
And then, if I put on a campaigning hat, ignoring EFVI's 1,000,000 signatures - this is mainstream news telling politicians that 20,000,000 people vape...and that's 20,000,000 voters. Any politician sitting on her or his arse doing fuck all today bar watching television (I suspect that's most of them ) will be thinking about how it impacts on their next election campaign.
Just a thought.
It's true, agreed. What bothers me is the part where ignorant viewers also watch it & they believe & are getting mixed messages & untruths but yes, 20 million & rising fast, cheers.
