In the movie "The Right Stuff" the Germans are seen singing a Nazi anthem ('Lily Marlene') with their newfound Murrican buddies.

Your mum should write a book about her experiences: not that many survivors of Stalin now. Guaranteed to be a decent sell, especially in Russophobic Britain!

Dont get me wrong, stalin was a horrible sociopath (and i am only using those terms because i cant think of any words capable to describe the atrocities he committed) the one thing i do like is that i heard after the war, he refused to categorize the jews differently then the non-jewish russians, to him they were all citizens of russia who had all suffered horribly. It sounds bad, but i kind of find uplifting to not categorize jews as a different people.

Of course he then proceeded to commit purges and sent all the russian jews to the gulags and essentially did the same thing the germans did, but for that brief shining moment..ya know

And yes btw, i know he did this because he hated jews and didnt want to give them any special treatment , but hey, it is what it is...being treated equally is better than what we usually get

And yes btw, i agree, even if a book is more effort than u want to deal with, u should video tape your stories of your life.
I still regret not doin that with my grandfather...we do have audio tapes, but its not the same

Antisemitism in the USSR was RIFE. Maybe for brief moment under Stalin it was not so but really... so what?

No nation is free of sin when it comes to racism, of course. Look at these lovely yokels in Mordor, e.g.! 150 years after abolition of slavery and they're still struggling with racism...

Rife is not even a harsh enough word to describe it. My family actually fled the russian pogroms in prussia in the late 1800's

Sadly antisemitism will never quite disappear but then neither do most other forms of racism.

'Othering' comes easy to some folk and rightwing leaders coax that very skillfully...

Lol, dont be so sure, i mean i dont know much about why Israel was created where it was, other than the obvious reasons, but there were people living there at the time, called Palestinians, who one might argue have kind of a right to be a little pissed.

Personally i think a huge chunk of germany bordering france wouldve been more appropriate, but i can understand getting the area of the temple and a lot of great beachfront property highly desirable.

Completely agree, of course.

But real antisemitism does exist. Political use of the term has devalued it enormously, of course.

Please, im not gonna argue the root of south americas or north americas anti-semitism, ideology like that at this point is like a cancer that has spread everywhere, it doesnt really matter where it came from

I don't want to argue over antisemitism, far from it, I did not mention it at all.
I merely pointed out that your comment regarding Brazil "where most of the nazis fled to after ww2." was factually incorrect.
