Brazil - 1m cases

I don't want to argue over antisemitism, far from it, I did not mention it at all.
I merely pointed out that your comment regarding Brazil "where most of the nazis fled to after ww2." was factually incorrect.
Re-read...i said south america. But u r absolutely correct, for whatever reason argentina was a huge nazi sympathizer. Someday i would like to visit places like argentina, because i always picture places in southern south america as third world types of places, even though i know they arent. Same with the developed places of africa. From what ive seen their cities are more modern then american or european cities

Edit: that first part wasnt supposed to be there, it was about something stupid that i didnt want to even dignify by mentioning it

Other news in Brazil.
Brazilian pastor prays for second Holocaust to ‘destroy the Jews like vermin’

what i do like about this, and actually find refreshing, is that in brazil they actually consider this somewhat of a crime. In america ppl would just hide behind the 1st amendment of free speech and the rest of us are forced to tolerate the hate mongers that exist here

Edit: this includes the vaping hate mongers too, why cant we sue the anti vaping groups for libel? *sigh*

True, but as you posted in thread titled Brazil 1M Cases the implication was that most of the Nazis fled to Brazil at the end of WW2, I simply clarified that it was not the case.
The only of note was reputedly Josef Mengele, famous for his experiments on twins in the concentration camps. As far as I am aware though, it was never proved. It did spark off a book though, called The Boys From Brazil, which was based on both fact, and fiction.

As for your wish to travel to see those countries, they are pretty much the same as the USA, the infrastucture in the towns, and particularly the capital cities is good, but as you get further away from them it becomes more basic. As with any country there are rich, and poor. There are also good. and bad people. As you know, I have worked in several states in the USA, but have also worked all over the world, and it is pretty much the same anywhere, India, China, Turkey, the USA, Thailand, Hong Kong, Europe, and many others, they are all the same to varying degrees. The only difference is the attitude / relationship the country you are visiting has with the country you are from.
If you ever have the chance to go to Brazil, be aware of safety, Brazil reputedly has the highest murder rate in the world. One of my colleagues did a few jobs there as part of a three man installation team, they were supplied with a 24 hour armed guard whilst there.
My father was in the Royal Navy, and docked in Argentina many times, so I would have liked to go there, but there is still quite a lot of animosity / dislike of the British though because of the Falklands war.
I think as for a pleasure visit, there are several countries in my mind, but I think top of my list would be Cuba.

I remember my mum (who was in Russia under Stalin) saying the space race was actually between the Russian German scientists and the US German scientists! :D

Yes, that's correct.
As the war came to an end there was great interest with several countries vying for the German rocket science technicians due to the success of the V2 rockets used as a weapon to try to devastate the UK.
The USA won most of them over, no surprise really, who would you pick in that situation, the USA where Germany had only killed US soldiers, or Russia where Germany had killed hundreds of thousands of both soldiers, and civilians.

Also Paraguay, Uruguay.

Latin America was fertile grounds for Nazis because of Far Right Caudillo-style leaders and distance from Europe. Look up 'nueva Germania' if you haven't already...

I think most of the German scientists in the USSR were originally captured, and had little choice in the matter. :D

The US CAPTURED von Braun and many other German rocket scientists. NO case of 'winning them over' . von Braun was a card carrying Nazi, even though he tried to deny it. See 'Operation Paperclip'.

It's the US's MO: lie and cheat about just about everything.

Yep. Build the USSR/US rockets, or die. They should have killed every one when they found them. The weapons were bad enough. But the inhumanity of their slave labour system, Which is still beyond belief to any sane person, should have led them all to a swift death. Instead, they are now hero's.

I think they were treated much better as time went on, favoured with better housing and stuff. There were a lot of soviet scientists let out of gulags to work on the programme too, I believe. Still didn't have much choice though. :D

To be fair. The U.K. would have done the same, if it could. The UK (Then and now) is also just as guilty as the US, when it comes to lying and cheating. The US also tends to like white criminals. It's innocent African Americans and Hispanics they hate.

Its ironic to think that, in the European theatre during WW2, the top US infantry unit was an all Japanese company. With more medals and commendations, per man, than any other unit) And the only air cover US pilots wanted was the all black Redtails.

and cowardly draft dodgers, like Trump, claim to be patriots.
