incompetent leadership has led to
the virus running riot, i think. now they have pinned all their hopes on a vaccine that may not even be very effective as there is no longer any other option.

Surely a highly contagious virus - an inability to follow rules and the addition of a government not knowing what to do has led to the virus running amok? Just like in all the other countries.

it’s more complex than “it’s all the governments fault” especially as the problem is global - or do we blame Boris and co for that as well ?

Wales is in dire straits at the moment, with new new cases and hospitalisation numbers at record high. 1st minister Mark Drakeford will have no choice but to introduce another lock down before Christmas. I personally thought the 17 day 'firebreak' we had back in November wasn't long enough. There's are now over 1800 covid patients in hospital in Wales up by 400 in April, NHS Wales is at breaking point.

I think they have handled it as badly as most others - because actually it’s a highly contagious disease one that’s taken the whole world by storm.

yes, they have dealt with it poorly and this has worsened the situation. we had some of the government’s expert scientific advisers appealing to the public in the media yesterday not to follow the governments advice to avoid a “third wave” in the new year, for example. “please do not follow the government’s advice because it is dangerous” seems a pretty clear indicator of incompetence, i think.

I think it's more a sign that the government's expert scientific advisors, like scientific advisors all over the world on the pandemic, don't always agree on the best way forward?

it's all about the devils finest invention, Money. Those with huge amounts of it are not gaining more so they put pressure on gov's. The new vaccines may lead to a return to this time last year by next year but the meds have to be payed for ontop of the already ridiculous amount of debt already. I worry about how bad things will get once the Gov look to recover the debt. Folks have mixed opinions about Xmas2020. For me it's for kids and retailers. Yes my daughter will visit and stay over so that's the main thing for me, parents wattsapp, friends wattsapp.
Girlfriend will stay for the week and in sense is my extra expenditure this year compared to last but the help she has given me has been priceless.
Will i miss going to visit folks, no i will stay as is untill i have been jabbed, which should be soonish being in a high risk catergory. I think New Year is going to be when folks most want to party and that is when the police will have their work cut out or it will lead to mass infection. Folks are going to want to see the back of 2020.

i don’t think so. that would be the case if some of their other advisers were saying “follow the government advice. it is good advice and it’s safe to follow it”. but i don’t think that’s happening.
