OK so i normally build 3mm diameter coils for all my RDAs, as I didnt have a smaller drill bit when i started building and just never changed.

So presumably bigger is better? as long as it will fit in the RDA.

So what advantage wud there be in making a smaller diameter coil. A bigger coil has a larger surface area and more contact with the wick and thus more vapour?

Q2. When using a kuro coiler or similar the coil is always slightly larger in diameter than the former it is wrapped on. Not so if wrapping on a drill bit. Is there a way to wrap on the coiler so this doesnot happen. Or is there a way of tightening up the coil?

Any answers mucho appreciated.

I use the little blue screwdrivers to wrap my coils, they heat up faster and I get less spit back. I think lower gauge works with bigger diameter coils. Seems like when I see these macro coils they are all done with 18g or 20g.

It's a fine balance really. I find anything bigger then a 2.5mm ID, carries too much wick for the deck, but then that also depends what you're building on.

The smaller the ID the faster the ramp up, but then also the smaller the ID the less cotton and surface area, which will affect performance, and the amount of dripping you'll be doing.

It mainly depends on yourself, what's the right balance for you.

OK so no hard and fast rule. Just have to do a bit of experimenting.

2mm for tanks 3mm for drippers. It's taken me a fair few months to make this decision.

Pre twist your wire straight, it removes some of the springynes and lets you coil the diameter you want.
