Coils. What people don't say...

what i have found for a normal everyday coil is the screwdriver this is a good place to start i hear of people having problems winding coils my first coil worked a treat took me ages but i think everyone can do it ......its all about patience and i have pretty sausage type fingers ........tip of the day make yourself comfortable........i made the same coil twice yesterday the first took me under 10 mins the second about an hour ......they both looked the same the second double the vapour ?????? no idea !!!!!!

I use a 2.54mm screwdriver shaft as a former, 8 turms of .30mm Kanthal comes in @ 1.4 ohms, threaded with cotton wool is pretty much a perfect setup for the Kayfun3.1 / Russian...

I'm good at making Microcoils now. And I almost exclusively use micro+cotton in my russian..just tinkering with sizes and resistance

Mason.

2mm screwdriver with .2 kanthal, 4/5 coils brings it out at around 1.6 to 1.8ohms for me. It seems to be where my sweet spot is on my kfl. I need to get some .3 to try proper microcoils. The only way I could get them to stay coiled tight was to squish them between pliers and torch :)

You don't need to squish and torch coils to get them to stay tight. You can do it on device with a pair of tweezers.

Make coil in normal fashion and attach it in place. Fire the coil till it glows and then as soon as you take your finger off the fire button, squish it together with tweezers and it'll hold all nice and tightly in place. (you can't squeeze and fire at the same time!)

If I'm making a microcoil I wrap on something that about 2mm or a little less diameter. I find the hollow drawing up blunt syringe needles work really well as you have the plasticy bit at one end you can wind up against which helps get the coils nicely wrapped in the first place.

I mainly use a 2mm jewellers screwdriver for my microcoils and a 20 gauge syringe needle for my nanocoils, for me I have found my sweet setup for my kayfuns which is 2 strands of .25 kanthal twisted and 8 to 10 wraps gives me approx 1.3 ohms and boy does it bring out flavours in juices that I have never noticed or tasted before.

Mason i took myself to the local pound shop and purchased a set of drill bits for a quid lol that way you have various sizes. As you wouldnt be using the drill bits in a drill and having them snap, they are great for wrapping coils and small enough to go in a kit bag :)

Some great advice and tips for those of us moving on to rebuilds, is there a table anywhere that you know of for easy reference or is there to many variables ?

I like to use the luer lock needle because it has that plastic bit at the lock end to push up against.
