What's new

Constant dry hits

Is that ordinary Kanthal or stainless? Doesn't look like much cotton there, might just be the pic though.I'd go with more cotton tighter through the coil and more tucked in. I don't own a Tsunami, I do have a Xephos rda which is very similar, I have slotted airflow rather than the twin exhasut pipes of the Tsunami. I think there lies the problem, the twin airflow pipe design on the Tsunami effectively blocks the juice or at least slows it down.

Maybe try splitting the tails and having some to the side and some coming (over) into the centre well.

Yes m8 its Kanthal 26 gauge which I got from stealthvape .

Tbf, looking at the pic I think the wicking is fine.....the coil has uneven spaces between each wrap. This could cause hotspots which burn so high it'll go right through the wick. Is that the only coil you've wrapped since you started it yesterday? I can't see anything wrong with the cotton, saturated well and looks to be just the right amount.

This is just from this picture mind, I may be off the mark with it

Have you got the coil really close to the airflow? Try raising it higher, just a thought but maybe not getting enough air to the middle of the coil.......

I am kind of new at building coils and don't have a coil maker yet, so I used a 2.5 mm drill bit. I did pulse it and it did seem to pulse from middle out with all wraps glowing. But reading back what you said the wick would burn in exactly the same spot every time, so it makes sense. I will have another go at making a coil tomorrow. I find it hard to get the coils even doing it by hand.

Everyone finds it hard at first mate. Best advice I can give is to take your time with each wrap, and make sure that there are no gaps inbetween wraps anywhere. I may be wrong with this in regards to the constant dry hits, but to me the wicking looks fine

Some top advice offered there, my advice is stick at it. We've all been there. When you get it right and it works for you your efforts will more than make up for troubles you've had. Best of luck buddy [emoji106]

Practice makes perfect mate. There's scope for a bigger coil too, say 3mm like mine, or maybe more. This means more cotton to hold more juice.

Here's a pick of my build (I'm newish) too).

As you can see, I have my coils higher up, with more cotton. Just remember there should only be slight cotton resistance in the coil core, and don't roll it too tight. Keep the tails fluffy, and don't cram it in too tight in the wells. You can place it front and back of the air tubes, just not over them or you get seepage. I prefer to re wick when an atty is dry, make it easier to keep the cotton fluffy until you're ready to juice up.

Hope this helps.

Hi, wicked today over 10 times. First couple of hits and like wow so much better than my tanks and then dry and burnt hit. Every time the cotton is slightly burnt in the middle where it is in the coil. I have tried less wick more wick. There is no friction when I pull the wick through. Anyway here is a pic of one of my many failed attempts before I gave up. A question I have been putting the tails down the side of where the airholes are. Do they go at the side or do you put them say around the front of the air holes? Hope that kinda meant sense.

Anyone any idea.

Cheers

Looks good m8 but as others have said I would try and wrap the coils a little closer together if you can.

My build is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but here's a photo

Hope this helps
