What's new

Coronavirus UK Daily Statistics

i’ve not contradicted myself. my reply to you was pointing out that you were being hypocritical (ie moaning about people not staying in the house while thinking it’s not a problem for you to do a bit of international leisure travelling). it had nothing to do with what i think about restrictions or what people are doing.

i just find this kind of incessant moaning about “other people” spreading the virus about a bit tiresome, which meant that i felt your hypocrisy should be pointed out to you in case you were unaware of it.

it's just a lets find a fault for the sake of it. As said i booked before covid. I changed my dates but had to go when my daughter was off school. There was no lockdown in place at the time, i did not break any of the guidelines flights where not an issue and no contact from the Airline etc about covid during the flight etc, which is my point in this i am fed up of folks breaking the guidelines etc, yet i didn't. As a type 1 diabetic with other ilness's and visual impairment the last 10 months have been difficult, i have had to rely on others to get shopping, cook some meals etc etc. I know it will go on for a while yet but see the moaning i do is because having to shield is one thing but doing so for 10 months is not nice add severe depression to the list of illness's and the fact the last 2 years i have lost a son, my dog and someone important to me just before Covid came to be. Plus i don't like asking for help i feel like a pest. I feel it unfair on people. So that is why i blame who i blame and based on fact or what i have seen on very rare occassions where i have had no option but to go to the nearest corner shop to buy food, milk etc I also need the daylight to go out as i am as near as blind in the dark. I bet you have spent more time out the house than i have in the last 10 months. But in future i will just use the term dickheads then you can't moan about the types i blame, which i am guessing you are part of seeing as you defend them ebery time. oh and if this is tiresome go get your head down for a few hours you may feel refreshed after.

That's the problem with the media. And you listen to and believe what they tell you. Yet i don't. Same with the Gov. Has anything they have done worked. NO. The only way is to make folk stay home. I am the first to admit i am anti anything that attempts to tell me what to do, but i have the common sense to realise when they have a genuine reason to do so. Whether i was told to stay home or not. I would still put my safety and health first by staying home. It's common sense that anywhere that folks gather indoors has a potential to spread the virus like wildfire it even happens outdoors, no ones going to know where they contracted Covid but put yourself in the situations where you mix with others is like playing russian roulette. As always fuck everything that can be moaned about regarding the rules the tier you live in and put your life and others before everything else as you can't magically come back from the dead.

Was that meaningless waffle intended to divert me from my original question ? well it failed, so I ask again.
Could you please provide any government, scientific, , medical, or media reports covering any cases of covid infection from a pub, or restaurant ?
As I have not heard of a single one during the whole year ?

Now to your meaningless waffle.
You are now contradicting yourself as you constantly complain about people breaking the rules, yet now you are saying that you do not listen to the media, or the government. So how would you know people are breaking the rules, as you would not know what the rules are. :)

Have you been looking?
A quick google search brings up several instances.
I also think it's fair to say covid spreads in any location where people come into contact with eachother.

Bez, there will have been transmission via pubs and restaurants, impossible to say how many though. I'm no fan of the Sage boffins (JVT apart) but as Prof Stephen Powis, NHS England's national medical director said the other day " Covid loves a crowd", there is no denying that that is true, and with the new variant strain running riot that statement is even more pertinent. The way pubs have been scapegoated is plain wrong, I don't though have the answers, look at what the Government have at their disposal, yet it seems, they cant "organise a piss up in a brewery".

On the upside, today is the roll out of the Oxford / AstraZeneca vaccine.

Lets see how that goes, should be better than the one that needs to be stored below minus fucking whatever, but it still depends on how many jabs you can do in a day.

.gov interactive map, are the figures trustworthy? Cases in my town are going right down - atm, 3 areas still in the dark purple, whereas a week or so ago all 10 wards were dark purple and the cases were off the scale.

Looks like a good one, apparently suitable for those with allergies and those who are also allergic to Penicillin :)

Hi mate, sorry for the delay in reply, but it took a while to read all the reports you posted links for. Here are my comments on each, and below that my sumarised opinion.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-54357189

Large pub it would seem, usually can hold up to 1,000 people, and even under covid restrictions was allowed to accommodate 356 customers.
16 positive cases, but note that they were among staff, no customers at all, so it could be said they were work, or personal lifestyle related infections, rather than the fact that the establishment was a pub.

https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/whats-on/food-drink/bristol-pubs-restaurants-closed-due-4642378

Seven Lucky Gods, one member of staff tested positive.

Three Brothers Burgers, one member of staff tested positive (actually not a member staff, but the chefs girlfriend’s friend) Maybe he fancied a few days off........................

Tare, two members of staff tested positive.

The Ship Inn, one customer tested positive a week after visiting the pub.

Avenue Café, one member of staff tested positive.

https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/news/18789317.glasgow-weatherspoons-workers-quarantining-covid-cases/

Weatherspoons, interesting one this, 17 employees isolating after three co workers tested positive, raised by a “whistle blower” interesting because the pub was in lockdown at the time, so not even open to the public !

https://www.gazettelive.co.uk/news/teesside-news/two-middlesbrough-pubs-contact-authorities-18985165

The Dickens, one customer contacted the pub three days after visiting it.

Signals Café, one member of staff tested positive.

I don’t know why you included this link, as it is about an illegal rave, rather than a licenced pub / restaurant.

https://www.ross-shirejournal.co.uk...d-to-dingwall-pubs-amid-fresh-warning-223215/

Pubs in Dingwall linked to twenty covid cases says the newspaper, but does not say if these suspected case were subject to a covid test. No mention of if they were staff, or customers.

https://saddind.co.uk/pubs-implement-closures-after-confirmed-coronavirus-cases/

The King William IV, one customer tested positive, and a few days later the landlord. and staff were told to isolate. It could be conjectured that the customer was infected by a member of staff.

The White Hart, a member of staff tested positive.

The White Lion, a member of staff tested positive.

https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/new...324.three-pubs-england-closed-covid-19-cases/

The Fox and Hounds, one customer had a positive test, the pub posted on Facebook that all staff had had a covid test, but did not reveal if any were positive, strange that because if they were all negative would he not have proudly stated the fact ?

The Lighthouse Kitchen and Carvery, one customer tested positive, at the time on Facebook the landlord said his staff had not been tested..........................

The Village Home Pub, the landlord said that there had been a case of coronavirus in the pub, but did not say whether it was a customer, or a member of staff.

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/wirral-pub-sheridans-becomes-fifth-18897590

Sheridans, The Refreshment Rooms, The Magazine Hotel, Sue’s Bar, and Hornblowers, scant reporting simpey saying that there have been a case of coronaviruse, no mention of numbers involved, or whether they were staff, or customers.

https://www.brightonandhovenews.org/2020/12/17/two-hanover-pubs-close-after-covid-case/

The Greys, closed after it was found that a member of staffs friend had had tested positive.

The Dover Castle, closed for a few days, with no comment as to why.

https://www.thedrinksbusiness.com/2...-safe-as-50-record-coronavirus-cases/[/QUOTE]

Not sure really why you included this as it is a report from Wetherspoons saying that 50 out of 811 sites had had one positive covid test, and that there had been 66 positive tests out of 41,564 employees. Hardly damming evidence that pubs are a breeding ground for covid.

To sumarise, it would seem that most of these reports contained vague information regarding whether people had had tests, in one report that did say staff had been tested, but did not say whether the tests were positive, or negative.

However the majority of people mentioned were staff members, not customers.
This leads me to form the opinion that their original infections were outside of the workplace.
A lot of many pub bar staff are young, sharing houses, some have two jobs to make ends meet, and single ones have boyfriends that I doubt they have not seen for nine months.

Don’t get me wrong, it is awful that anyone gets covid, but I do not think that pubs, restaurants, and café’s are the hotbed breeding ground for infection that many (including scientists, and the government) make them out to be ! particularly amongst the customers.
Plus these are mainly reports from small local newspapers so are “front page” news.

It would make an interesting comparison between the infections of staff verus customers in all of the major supermarkets......................

Possibly the government should say you can visit a supermarket, or a pub, but be careful of the staff as they are likely to infect you............................

So you are saying they should have open bars without staff

Of course there will be transmission in pubs, but people have to take it into context.
See my post #1418

But I totally agree with you on your point "The way pubs have been scapegoated is plain wrong" :)

If anyone wants help with organising a piss up in a brewery, I am sure you, and I can sort that out. I used to work in one many years ago. :18:
