Just been reading the care home estimate alone in total is 7,500

Possibly more sadly......there are about 22,000 care homes in the UK, If only 50% of the homes are infected and only one death per home, that's 11,000 right there.....it's probably more though

Eastbourne Tuesday April 28th

A lady approached us who had been made redundant due to Covid 19 and part of her job package was accommodation. When she lost her job she also lost her place to live. She has sofa surfed for a few days but the friend didn’t want her there anymore so she sat, alone and crying on the bench just next to where we were. I called the councils after hours number in an attempt to find a bed for the night for her. All they could offer her was a hotel in Medway, Kent. I explained that she didn’t have the money to get there so that was it. She was left on the streets and we had to walk away from her and go about our rounds. That was an incredibly difficult thing to do but we simply couldn’t help her. All we can do is call the council tomorrow and try to get her something nearer. ****** ***** is her advocate now.

60-70 miles away, depending on (road) route, £47.80 single train fare to the nearest Medway Town (Chatham), and that would've been late evening anyway, would be lucky to get the last train. Not much of a friend though, for chucking her out.
