Hi all, I have a little request for advice if I may.

Now I'm moving into the world of rebuildables I need a little advice on the brands and types of cotton and wire to use.

Most people seem to use Cotton bacon or Firebolt but some seem to recommend using Japanese Muji or organics. Somebody recommended Kendo Gold the other day too. Is there a difference?

Also, does the wire brand matter? Am I okay with a basic spool of UD or do I need Coilology or something more expensive?

Steam engine suggests a simple 28AWG SS316 round wire. I'll not mess about with clapton, alien or anything fancy yet.

Ooooh sorry @John R, I should've said. Just MTL at the moment please. I'm not into DTL yet.

Thank you kindly.

Hi @Astral, like you I'm relatively new to the RTAs I started off with standard Kanthal A1 26awg wire from Stealth Vape, and Muji Japanese Cotton and Firebolt Cotton. IMO this side of RTA's the products are reasonably priced and value for money, so as time goes by I will be trying different types so as to increase my own knowledge and understand my preferences .

I'm looking forward to sharing our experiences together @Jonty. We can swap stories and learn together, my kin.

Sincerest wishes to you and your loved ones.

Japanese Puff cotton, for a processed cotton, I'd recommend Datt White Stuff.

Hi @Astral :)

I'm 6 months into my RTA journey and thoroughly enjoying using them. There is something quite satisfying about successfully "building" on an RTA.

For my MTL RTA's I stick with a simple 26awg or 28awg round wire Kanthal A1 coil with a 2.5mm or 3.0mm internal diameter depending on the RTA I'm using. I've yet to try stainless steel wire.

For cotton I mostly use Muji Pads as it's really easy to use and I often use Vapefly Firebolt Cotton for my 3.0mm I.D. coils as I find it's just the right thickness and also easy to use.
From a practical point of view I find other cottons like Cotton Bacon, Cotton Gods etc. a bit wasteful as I'm a tight scotsman and can never judge how much to use and usually end up going through more than I should. Just my own experience.

As mentioned above - I also use Stealthvape for my wire supplies. They have a long standing great reputation in the vaping scene for providing very clean and good quality wire.

Good luck and if I can help in any way just give me a shout :)
